Today’s SDI GALLA project reflection workshop in Dakar, Senegal was vibrant! “We do not wait for a seat at the table; we create the table and invite others to join.” SDI communities are redefining and shaping local climate interventions.
Let’s build more tables together!

Plastic waste is found in most coastal communities in Freetown blocking waterways and river channels increasing the risk of flooding. We must strive to #BeatPlasticPollution by reducing our dependency on plastics and establishing recycling businesses for local communities.

Very serious cause for concern! The rate of #deforestation caused by the official allocation/sale of forests for housing is unprecedented - 1000 ha of forests in just 10 months!! Reforestation efforts can’t keep up with this. Water shortages and natural disasters will follow…
Latest assessment by @WFPS_Leone of the Peninsular National Park show loss or degradation of over 1000 ha of forest cover from Feb- Nov 2022. This means less drinking water, more landslides and flooding. The future of #Freetown is precarious. @PresidentBio @ProtectionLeone
