Felt strong enough to have a 100m sprint on the RowErg today.
Manged 16.8 seconds on my first (only) attempt - shaving off 0.4seconds off my 2023/24 PB.
Places me joint 2nd in the UK in my Male Age Group and joint 15th in the World in my Male Age Group.
Very pleased with that.
It doesn't feel like I've progressed that far....
But, today, this happened.... 6 Million Meters Rowed.
Must be rowing in circles though, I start and end each session in the same place. 😎👍
Slowing getting back into rowing on my C2 RowERG. Two 43 min rows today for a total of 15,329m.
My back is holding up, a year ago I was rowing similar distance with a 02.04 split, now I, at 02.48 minute splits, but not feeling injured and just rowing in the fat burning zone...
I have been locked out of this account for months and secured access to it again.
My rowing progress snarled last year, having rowed a marathon on 10-05-22, a few weeks later I had crippling back pain and only been rowing sporadically.
More trapped nerve pain meant I struggled to walk in Feb 23, but after a long break, started rowing again this week 3rd April.
Focussing on form, keeping my heart rate below 130bpm, means my split times this week are 45-50 seconds slower, but 30,000m rowed over 3 days.
There is much to admire watching GB rowers compete.
Switched on to the #EuropeanChampionships2022 by fortuitous accident.
GB rowers just go about their task so purposely.
It’s magnificent to watch.

First time back on the rower for a few weeks. Fatigue manageable, back got tight around 6km so that’s where today ended. Small steps back.
Been struggling with fatigue, both physically and mentally.
Then this arrives in my mailbox from the wonderful @AlexGregoryGB , perfect timing.

A gentle 30 minute row this morning, feel a little tight in my back though, so stopped.
6,814m @ 2:12.2 splits.
Heart rate a bit high too…
Slowly getting back into my rowing rhythm...
Because of injuries, May was a disastrous month, eased my way into the seat today, wanted to do at least 10,000m but only managed a series of rows for 8,558m
Slow recovery from an injury plagued May.
I’ve lost mental stamina, endurance, fitness and speed.
Fortunately, I haven’t lost any mirrors in the house, so it’s on the RowErg every day, even if I’m rowing a fraction of the distances I achieved previously.
Looking at some old photos, I found some of me rowing whalers in Durban harbour.
Various military units in Natal doing a boat race.
Some serious power in those oars!
Prefer my RowERG 🤣🚣♀️🚣🚣♂️
