Agree Rich. Both players are HOF’ers…sure Steve Y was great and had his longevity but Pat was a more dynamic a scorer early on with his speed and skill. We didn’t need another Trottier in ‘83 we had the original! Always loved Steve Y bc he’s wore 19 for Trots!

And Jimmy D wanted Patty for the Red Wings… Michigan boy and all that… but Bill took him…. And allegedly after head-faking that he wanted Brian Lawton who wound up going #1 for Minnesota. Lol. Gotta love these inside-hockey stories.
Sure…but think about what it’s like-not knowing-sitting in that chair in that moment, sifting through the stack of info and having to pull that lever…knowing 40 years later people be able to reflect and pass judgement @sforza_victor. The pick still holds up pretty well.
