WATER “SURGE PRICING” — seriously?
First our bills go up.
Then we’re told not to use our hosepipes.
Now we’re talking about charging people MORE for using more water during shortages.
Consumers will understandably ask: why should they pay the price for decades of inadequate infrastructure and leakage?
By all means incentivise sensible water use, but accountability has to flow both ways.

And here’s the sucker punch.
A big chunk of this £3.4bn water bill hike about to hit every single one of us, is in effect a subsidy for big-tech, corporate data centres!
Here’s how:
Within that £3.4bn sits £477m specifically to serve new housebuilding and data centre development.
United Utilities received the largest single approval, £995m, partly for water infrastructure serving data centres in east Manchester.
Read that again. Households in drought, under hosepipe bans, are being asked to fund the water infrastructure for data centres.
The bill for corporate demand is being socialised through the domestic tariff, in the middle of a supply emergency.
We pay for the infrastructure, we pay for the debt, we pay for the profits, and roughly a third of what we pay goes out as returns to investors and creditors.
Only public ownership will stop this daylight robbery.
I'll bet you these projects will never see a large chunk of that money.
We pay for the system through our bills. Yet almost 1/3 of them go to returns for investors and creditors.
We pay for the infrastructure, for the debt, for the profits. And they keep asking for more.
The only way to end this is public ownership.

Nurses cannot accept any presents from patients.
Why can health secretaries accept hundreds of thousands of pounds from private healthcare companies?
Health secretary Yvette Cooper has accepted almost £500,000 from a businessman with commercial ties to the NHS, an analysis by the BMJ has found.
Cooper, who was appointed to the new role by prime minister Andy Burnham on 20 July, received the donations from medical recruitment entrepreneur Peter Hearn and two of his firms.
According to her parliamentary financial disclosures, she received £248,619 directly from Hearn, as well as a further £220,623 over the past ten years from two companies: MPM Connect and OPD Group.
Hearn, who died recently, held a significant stake in Odgers Berndtson, a recruitment firm that worked extensively with the NHS.
Odgers has also acted as a recruitment partner for a number of senior NHS appointments. It headhunted former TalkTalk boss Dido Harding to oversee the controversial Test and Trace programme during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cooper's donations were declared and there is no suggestion that she breached parliamentary rules. But doctors and campaigners have raised concerns about the perception of a conflict of interest.
“NHS doctors are prohibited from accepting small gifts from pharmaceutical companies, such as a pen or a notepad, because of the risk of the perception of influence.” Steve Taylor of the Doctors’ Association UK told the BMJ. “Ministers responsible for the NHS should be held to at least the same standard.”
“Political donations from individuals or companies with commercial ties to the NHS... inevitably raise questions about whose interests are being served,” said GP Emily Ball, director of the anti-privatisation group EveryDoctor.
“Mr Hearn kindly donated money to fund Yvette’s office staff, which has all been fully declared and is compliant with all the rules,” a spokesperson for Cooper told the BMJ.
Hearn was a major Labour party donor, with former health secretary Wes Streeting also receiving more than £285,000 from the mogul and his companies between February 2019 and February 2026.
Novara Media approached Odgers Berndtson for comment.

The reason why there were so many empty seats at the World Athletic Championships maybe due to the high prices.
The cheapest seat was £40.
And the cost of food:
A pork roll £18.50.
A hot dog £15.00.
A bottle of water £3.95.
Park and ride was £22.50.
What a rip off.

Your occasion reminder that there are now more Surgeons than qualified GPs
That GP practice appointments are now 31-35m a month
That the number of operations hasn’t changed
And the share of NHS funding to GPs has reduced considerably

🚨 EXC: NHS England has suppressed the work of investigators carrying out dozens of national clinical audits. NHSE has stopped investigators alerting media, watered down recommendations and limited the way their reports are written, published and used: thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/a…

You will never see the media go harder on the “where will the money come from?” question than when a policy is aimed at helping the working class.

MP's are renting their houses out then getting you to pay the rent on their 2nd house.
The Government should seize every penny they earned to pay for their ridiculous expenses.
This is fraud.

A doctor will repeatedly bring up patient safety issues to hospital leadership and be ignored.
Yet if a discharge summary is 12 hours late, the full force of administration will be unleashed on that delinquent doctor.
Administration’s asymmetric priorities are striking.

The irony of receiving an email from Severn Trent Water asking me to conserve water when they lose 400 million litres of water a day through leaks and aging infrastructure. How about stop paying your shareholders and use that money to fix our system that you have allowed to rot?

4) Trump saca un “tuit” agradeciendo a la FIFA por “hacer justicia”.
Gracias Trump y gracias FIFA por arruinar el principio de igualdad de competencia del Mundial de fútbol.

Five of the world’s most respected diabetes researchers have reportedly been removed from a major conference, and threatened with arrest, after criticising US Government policy.
That should concern all of us, regardless of our politics. Science advances through challenge, debate and dissent. When researchers fear professional consequences for criticising government policy, the independence of medical research is at risk.
Academic freedom matters.
