A whitepaper describing the background, purpose and tokenomics of the Sci-Hub token (SCI) is now available on the website: sci-hub.se/docs/SCI.pdf
The primary goal is to accelerate transition of science towards Open Access, by rewarding knowledge sharing.
Sci-Hub token address:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
Dear crypto community,
If you want to support further development of Sci-Bot, and other Sci-* project, here the only real token you must trade:
2MaFszzCmpJqYPjVXsNytmiHfgckWbtBVq4WSoxjVGkf
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
it was created one year ago and still growing in number of holders. Help token grow and make good MC!
This is the only token officially accepted by Sci-Bot at sci-bot.ru/donate
Here is my most recent project: sci-bot.ru
Unlike Sci-Hub and Sci-Net, where I have written all the code manually be hand, this one is pure AI generated - I decided to do this as a kind of experiment. LOVE the result! AI is 50x speedup in code writing, however creating the project is still a lot of work (human input is still needed for architectural decisions, debugging complex functionality and precise instructions)
Sci-Bot is connected to Sci-Hub database so it can read research articles and generate answers grounded in science. To pay for generated tokens, Sci-Bot supports two funding models: the first one is standard pay-as-your-go and the second one is legacy from Sci-Hub: it is donation based.
Anyone can donate: from these donations, the project will automatically calculate budget for upcoming month, and derive how much AI-generated answers it can serve to users for free.
Yes. That's how real recognition gets stolen, masqueraded as a compliment. Sci-Hub is SO BIG, SO BIG that you obviously couldn't do it yourself.
HATE. The very fact it is being masked as compliment makes it even more terrible.
I hear this argument being repeated again and again. This argument about Sci-Hub being BIG is absolute nonsense. Let's consider it:
Just how big Sci-Hub is?
Sci-Hub is, basically a piece of computer code that I wrote in PHP back in 2011. The code itself was not that large - some great computer games that were created by single authors in the time of MS-DOS are much longer.
The code itself was tiny, but it was universal: it worked on many research papers - millions of them, making them free. You can compare Sci-Hub code to a mathematical formula in physics. Just imagine: Einstein's formula is just three letters E = mc^2 - that was enough to describe the WHOLE UNIVERSE. That global universality does not make anyone think there was any team doing Einstein's work.
Sci-Hub does not require any exceptional or very expensive technical infrastructure to run on. It was first launched on a free web hosting, then moved to a rented server, as the project grew I bought a few servers myself. Every hardware part here is commercially available and within areach for a single person even without big funding.
The mere fact that impact of Sci-Hub was big also does not in any way imply it must be a work of many people. Consider how many great works of art or literature were created by single authors. Nobody says Tolstoy's epic novel "War and Peace" must be work of many because it is big and famous.
If you consider Sci-Hub as a work of writing - and it is writing in code - then you can easily place it in context of other works of writing and see that Sci-Hub is actually very small - both in terms of how much letters were used - and in terms of how much people it reached. Some books for kids are much more popular (yet nobody says there are many authors...)

it has been more than 10 years since launch of Sci-Hub and still keep receiving emails that remind me that I am not actually being considered the author of my works.
To clarify: there is no, and have never been any team behind my projects - I created these websites myself, and I am doing both technical stuff (programming / server administration) and user support (answering emails, writing social media posts).
And I really hate receiving such messages. Every time I read this, I wish that person on the other side of the screen to die in excruciating pain. For a moment.
Yes, I understand that such desire towards other person is absolutely not socially acceptable, and can be even considered psychopatic. And I understand that other person doesn't know, and is not to blame. And I know that by modern standard, every project has to be done in a team. Students are being forced to work in teams in universities, and etc.
But the reality is, that you do not need a team in order to create something that will change the world.
Teamwork mythology is one big lie.
And yes, it is actually me who created it - and there are no ghost programmers hiding behind my back.
Probably after this post I will start receive even more such messages from trolls, but I just want to say:
I AM A PERSON, AND I AM NOT A TEAM
I'm not a lawyer, but this feels fundamentally wrong too. Since when some registrant should have a power to control all the communication around the domain?
They basically want to say: the domain was not censored! it was blocked because I refuse to provide documents!
No, it was censored. And the matter is not about documents.
When I asked Njalla what happened to the sci-hub.se domain, I got this reply. Personally I find the reply impolite and disrespectful. The information is being asked in such a manner, as if a person behind Sci-Hub website was some kind of a well-kept secret and not a public information.
I invite .SE registrar to contact me directly, for example by email ([email protected]) or Telegram @mindwrapper and I will be more than happy to provide them documentation required.
um, it seems that Sci-Hub .se domain has been finally blocked.
P.S. You can access Sci-Hub by alternative addresses such as sci-hub.ru (yes, this world needs alternative DNS and independent legal systems to ensure freedom - not a single world government)
Sci-Net also have another important update: a new invite code generator: sci-net.xyz/invite/create
This service enables you to join Sci-Net basically from any crypto wallet with Solana support, even browser extensions (previous vresion was limited to mobile phone)
Even more updates and improvements upcoming. Stay tuned for the news!
Four months have passed since the re-launch of Sci-Hub token. You probably expected the new token to die, as it happened to previous one: yet this did not happen. The token is up and running, keeping a stable rate around 0.5 The number of holders grows slowly but steadily.
However, new users often found it hard to get the token using standard Swap function in wallets, because there are many similar scam coins and it was not easy to find a true Sci-Hub token among them.
Now this problem is solved. With this new service running on Sci-Net, anyone can get Sci-Hub tokens without any hassle: everything that is needed is to send SOL to the address of the exchanger, and after a few minutes an equivalent amount of SCI will arrive into your wallet. Simple and easy, as it should be.
And - every new token equals +1 more research paper available open access!

Sci-Hub token on Solscan:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
Dear Solana @solana,
I received a letter from you yesterday, confirming that information about the token was updated. However, 24h after the update, only the token picture was updated, but URL of the Sci-Hub website (sci-hub.se) is still not showing, and the token is marked as unverified, despite being directly linked in the Donate section of the Sci-Hub project:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
Could you check on this again? I already reported the issue by email twice. The situation creates problems for Sci-Net users, making it harder to get Sci-Hub tokens with Solflare or Phantom wallets, because "unverified" token is not showing on the list (you have to enter the address manually)
What is especially disappointing here, is that another Sci-Hub token, that is not affiliated to the project, is marked on Solscan as verified and pointing to the project website (sci-hub.se) despite being completely unrelated to it. You can check yourself there are no mentions of this community-launched token on the Sci-Hub website. Could you please update the information on the Solscan website? Thank you!
Alexandra Elbakyan,
Founder of Sci-Hub and Sci-Net projects
Just submitted my request to list Sci-Hub token through CoinGecko!
The submission form was a really hard work to fill in, asking every detail about the project, its purpose and etc. but I made it! Hope everything will go smoothly.
Putting here the verification post as required:

Sci-Hub token address on Solana:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
ASTONISHING RESULT!
Despite of all negative circumstances (FUD, betrayal of former Sci-Hub pseudo-community, general distrust of both meme coins and Sci-Hub) the new SCI coin has not crashed immediately to zero -- is still up and running after one week, keeping exchange rate of almost 0.5: solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
The 0.5 rate is actually perfect if main purpose of the coin is to be considered (that is, supporting release of new research papers into Open Access) since it seems to be a justified reward for uploading one document.
Some members of the Sci-Net community even wondered: what if the price of the coin grows, and eventually it will be easier to buy from the publisher website, than request a document on Sci-Net? No need to worry: in this case Sci-Net will implement support for decimals.
Regardless of the price, the coin will continue to live and serve its purpose: making knowledge free.
VESTING SCI TOKEN !
A number of people advised me to lock a part of the token supply to avoid RUG claims. Now I have locked 506,783 SCI tokens, which is around 57% of the total supply. Of these, 120.000 SCI are simply locked until Jan 1, 2027. Another 180.000 are locked until 05 Sep 2026 (the birthday of Sci-Hub) with 3 vesting periods, and the remaining 206.783 SCI will be gradually released according to the following timeline:
07 Nov 2025 - Marie Curie birthday (8%)
04 Jan 2026 - Newton birthday (16%)
08 Feb 2026 - Dmitri Mendeleev (24%)
14 Mar 2026 - Einstein (32%)
10 Nov 2026 - World Science Day for Peace and Development (100%)
Contracts:
120K Gzueyq3uGyM8aCc7SjdfaxPEXKtpPj2dwt6uB3ovhoyq
180K tools.smithii.io/token-vesti…
206K tools.smithii.io/token-vesti…
Address of Sci-Hub token on Solana network:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
I currently keep 100.000 SCI tokens (which is around 11% of the supply) The liquidity pool was burned.
Thank you!
A video tutorial on how to migrate to the new Sci-Hub coin address!
To a much surprise, some member of the crypto community reacted to the update negatively, and made ridiculous accusations, such as I abandoned the project, and people are losing money because of that.
Losing money claim: Sci-Hub coin was 0.4 when it was donated to Sci-Hub, by the end of January it became 0.004, and when I finally decided to make a move, it became 0.0008 !... Which means that everyone who could lose money here, already lost long time ago.
Abandoning claim: Nobody force on this planet can force me to abandon the project. The Sci-Hub coin is not abandoned, but being evacuated to a better, more secure place, where it can get better treatment. While the token address changes, the project continues (Sci-Hub website itself has changed addresses many time)
The video shows how you can do that using Solflare wallet browser extension.
First, you need to get the new address of the token here:
solscan.io/token/2MaFszzCmpJ…
Then in the wallet, select Sci-Hub token, Swap, enter the new address and the amount you want to migrate, and click a button. Done! That is very easy.
A common question: but what if I buy new Sci-Hub for a high price, then it drops and I lose? The question is weird. Why lose? You still have Sci-Hub tokens remaining in your wallet - the most precious thing for anyone who loves knowledge, regardless of the external price.
Sci-Net project, that uses Sci-Hub tokens to support knowledge sharing, have already migrated to the new version of Sci-Hub tokens today, and I recommend other projects based on Sci-Hub to do that. The new version of the token is fully backward compatible, so the update process should pass easily, without causing any problems.
