This is not true. Cardinal Ratzinger (future Pope Benedict XVI) explicitly states that one can vote for a candidate who supports abortion if there is proportionate reason. Obviously, you cannot vote for someone BECAUSE they support abortion, but you can vote for them despite the fact that they support it. This is because one would only be culpable for remote material cooperation with evil which Cardinal Ratzinger says “can be permitted in the presence of proportionate reason”. Therefore, it is up to the individual to weigh whether or not there is proportionate to vote for a candidate who supports abortion. If one thinks that pointless wars, not placing America first, complacency with abortion, and other modern Republican positions proportionately outweigh the evil from voting Democrat, then under prayer, they may vote Democrat. You cannot condemn someone to Hell based solely off of the fact that they voted blue. If you think that, then you have no right to lecture people on Catholic teaching.
