I understand their argument. Their union must be run by someone corrupt/compromised - a strike at this time of year, in these economic conditions, brings many more small businesses one step closer to insolvency. It’s way beyond ‘tactical or strategic’ it’s malicious.

Proof the workers have absolutely no say. Terrible unions control your future

Same with our Postie, she wanted nothing to do with the strike & said many of them felt the same. Said a lot of new hires had lofty demands like 4-week trip abences for cultural reasons, etc. Outlandish stuff. I also think this is about helping to segway everything to digital + another kick at small businesses.

Not all of them. My mom is an employee and was mind blown they didn’t accept the deal that was offered. She thought it was great and wants them to stop striking and get back to work.

Overwhelmed by the volume of packages coming into their services due to the strike by Canada Post employees, Purolator and UPS have temporarily suspended service to third party couriers in an attempt to clear up their back logs.

I thought CP only delivered useless mail. Ignorant people but when it affects you, you will cry for them to be forced back! Wait until you need a passport, insurance slips, credit card, return a parcel, health card renewal, license. And yes they also deliver many parcels.🤦🏻‍♀️

FYI, Canada post has been on strike for 2 weeks with small businesses estimated to have lost $1B CAD. Shouldn't our politicians be concerned about the Economy?! Canadian Economy 🔽

I was just made aware of a decision by Air Canada to introduce new carry-on baggage fees. I am extremely concerned. Canadians work hard and save up to travel. They rightly expect excellent service, not extra fees.

Businesses need to put together a class action lawsuit against the union - yes they have a right to strike. Businesses have a right to earn a living and the union is blocking that right.

This is what a lack of competition does. Air Canada shareholders keep getting richer while the end customer without much to choose from suffers.

Postal employees have rejected a 4 year 24% pay raise when Canada Post has racked up $3 billion of debt in the last 6 years. There isn’t a single corporation on the planet that would agree to put their company 24% further in debt without major improvements in productivity.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is false. Canada Post proposed an 11.5% wage increase over four years, which the union rejected. Workers are seeking a cumulative 24% increase over the same period. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article… (No paywall: archive.ph/2qQSv) financialpost.com/news/canadian-… globalnews.ca/news/10885259/…
