Interesting to see MSFT calling this copilot as well! Is this a sign that the company is pivoting the brand to be your copilot in all things productivity? Is a Meta-scale name change coming?

One of the uncommon theories I've heard is that bigcos hire people with potential to found/work for competing startups and keep them well-fed. Makes more sense to me in the context of the tweet below.

The amount of data science articles locked within medium and yet pollutes google searches is going to be the downfall of this field

Big lesson seeing @nikitabier: Just because you have it, doesn't mean you gotta flex. He was in a Meta team tasked trying to build new apps w/ potential to stick. Did he? Nah We knew it takes luck/skill to succeed. Apparently takes discipline to NOT succeed for the wrong team?

Every time we give advice there is an implicit message that the problem is small or the recipient hasn't given it enough mindspace. We hopefully believe the unsolicited advice provides enough value to override those messages.

A lot of smart people building to draft replies in your inbox. IMO it should be done at receive-time. Could just send "no maybe next year" and the receiver had the option to instruct their email reader GPT to show "pleasant old fashion" or "simple and to the point" emails.

Something I've noticed missing when I read a lot and don't write enough is a genealogy of my own ideas. Who gave me the idea? How is my life different after the idea? When I write I'm able to think about this more rigorously and question something without it feeling like a fact

New biggest fear unlocked: Big-tech apps have long term holdouts where a small group of users won't get certain features/algos for years. Imagine being in a chatGPT holdout assigning you to an old model while the rest of the world gets to interact with cutting edge versions.

Since people seemed to enjoy the previous Python question. I learned about one other thing I found fascinating: Why does the keys (or values) method of a dictionary object not just return a list? Looking closer, it's an object of type dict_keys.

Why does the Python `is` operator think a is identical to b when a and b are equal numbers but not when they are equal strings?

Always prepare for two parallel scenarios for a data science interview. You either primarily: - Tell engaging stories about value you bring, or - You listen and ask questions with curiosity. What you use depends on the ratio of words spoken by the interviewer in first 5 mins.

When someone says they're done with Twitter, Twitter should instantly recycle the handle. Just like when people said they were leaving the US, immediately give their citizenship to the next immigrant in line.

A wise person once told me that one of the biggest life skill is knowing what the knobs are that you can tweak and what the immutable constraints are. I think about that a lot.
