Last night I had a great visit to @DSFireUpdates #NewtonAbbot fire station. The main purpose of the visit was to say a huge THANK YOU & WELL DONE for raising over £3000 for the @firefighters999 at their car wash on Saturday! 👏 Good to see the newly installed Defib in place too!

Another interesting incident for @DSFireUpdates Torquay & Paignton Fire Crews. A 12 year old child had become cut-off by the incoming tide on a section of the sea wall. Crews worked collaboratively utilising @jesip999 with @TorbayCRT and @RNLITorbay to safely effect the rescue.

1st in attendance to this domestic fire this morning. A live video link from a friend on scene confirmed roof well alight & enabled early make up of water carrier due to no hydrants in the rural location. Even got a virtual 360 in before arriving!#moderntechnology @DSFireUpdates

Not my video, but passed to me by a former @LondonFire colleague. A house fire in East London a couple of weeks ago caused by an e-scooter lithium battery. The burning batteries 'flaring' causes overpressure which looks like mini-backdraughts!!!

This #DrowningPreventionDay please familiarise yourself with how to use a throwline - it could save someone's life.
If you find yourself in the water, float to live and shout for help.

Residents bravely save a firefighter who had been swept away by floodwater. Even shallow water is dangerous.
Thinking of those affected and responding to this incredible flooding.

One of our fire engines skidded on ice and left the road this morning while on its way to help other motorists. No one was harmed but this highlights the dangers of black ice, even for well trained and experienced drivers. If you have to travel, take extra care on the roads.
