Here is an update from the Dallas Bar Association on online CLE programs via Zoom this week:
1. March 30 at noon, 2012 DBA President Paul Stafford will discuss “Coping with COVID-19: Business and Insurance Considerations.” Thanks to Thompson Knight for co-sponsoring this CLE.
2. April 3 at noon, Camille Stearns Miller, Christie Newkirk, Courtney Perez and Mark Shank will discuss “What Employers Need to Know.”
I want to have regular communications with our members.
Thanks for all you do for the DBA!
DBA Members: Please view this short message from President @robertltobey addressing the DBA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The information and events discussed by Robert may be found at DallasBar.org. Thank you and please stay safe. youtu.be/eXyA_Hbgf7c
The Dallas Bar Association is starting a Coronavirus Task Force. Bill Mateja came up with the idea and is running with it. The Task Force will provide our members with important news, resources and CLE presentations. More details will follow next week.
The decision by the Dallas Bar Association today to close the Belo Mansion through at least March 31 was difficult, but one we believe was correct based on fast unfolding events. We will continue to monitor events with the safety of our members taking paramount importance.
We will provide our Sections and Committees with tools, so that they can continue their important work while the building remains closed. Once the building reopens, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the best bar facility in the country—the Belo Mansion!
I know everyone has a favorite Jim Coleman memory. Years ago, he served as the chair in an arbitration where my client was wronged but had the law squarely against him. The panel did what was just and gave my client the justice that he deserved. I will never forget that case!
Bob Thomas was a big reason why the DBA is the leading metro bar association in the country. If we didn’t have the Belo Mansion as a gathering place, we would not have the sense of community that we enjoy now.
We are sadden to hear of the loss of DBA Past President Bob Thomas who passed away Sunday morning. He was President in 1978 ("the Bar was Great in '78") and took a leading role in the acquisition of the @BeloMansion in the late 1970s as a home for the DBA. @statebaroftexas

Richard Stewart will receive the Martin Luther King award tomorrow at noon at the Belo Mansion. This will be a very special event! I hope everyone can join us.
