This is spot on.
Israel’s elections, where Arab citizens vote equally alongside Jews and all other Israelis, demolish the simplistic, fraudulent “apartheid” narrative. So the goalposts move: Why can’t Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank vote in Israeli elections? Apartheid! Suddenly, Palestinians don’t want sovereignty or statehood anymore. Recognition of Palestine by the UK, France and dozens of other countries? Irrelevant. Palestine’s UN status? Irrelevant. The Palestinian Authority, President Abbas, Palestinian elections? Scrap them all! What Palestinians REALLY want, apparently, is to be Israelis, governed by Israeli law and voting in Israeli elections. Forget Palestinian self-determination! At least for today. It’s always the same. Whichever argument serves the immediate need to condemn Israel wins the day, no matter how contradictory or intellectually bankrupt.

I love Bret’s lessons in civility to his online critics. We need more role models like him.
Ok thanks Brenda. I’ll work on it. Have an exciting day.

I think I posted a similar point about him in the last year or so. I honestly hadn’t realized he was still alive. It’s like having Churchill still in our presence. Walesa is one of the great heroes of the 20th Century. Such a humble man. Such a good man. Every inch of him drips with courage. Other than Ronald Reagan, no one played a bigger role in bringing an end to the Soviet Union and the Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe than Lech Walesa.
Wow, remarkable that this guy who led a movement that helped bring down communism more than 40 years ago is still around and speaking out

Nixon’s advice to John Dean was to tell the witnesses to testify to the grand jury that they couldn’t recall.
Trump: "That's what a lawyer tells you to answer when you're guilty. Just say, 'Not to my knowledge.'"

A dramatic hearing for two former FBI officials accused of making false statements about Hunter Biden’s laptop. A judge tore into DOJ at length and an FBI agent who worked it said it was launched immediately after a Trump speech on election security apnews.com/article/fbi-justi…

It’s so extraordinarily unusual for a federal grand jury to refuse to indict when asked to do so by DOJ. Or was. Remember the old lawyer’s saying that a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich? Not anymore. Bravo to the grand jurors who are standing up for the rule of law. They know injustice when they see it. They should all be made honorary Federalist Society members….

Good bye, Ben Gvir. The end of his role in the Israeli government is clear. Much else remains up in the air. He has done inestimable damage to the State of Israel. I’m glad both Jews and Arabs voted in a way that will rule out his staying in power, though it will take some time.

Arab power in a democratic Jewish state. How many Americans even know there are two million Arab Israeli citizens? Today, I hope the world takes note of what a real Middle Eastern democracy looks like. There is no Apartheid. There is no genocide. There is instead a multicultural state that’s unique in the region, and in some respects, unique in the world.
'Our record-breaking electoral achievement is all due to Ben Gvir and Smotrich and the entire government that neglected the Israeli Arab community. We responded by exercising our civil rights' At the Ra'am party HQ, leader Mansour Abbas speaks to @ariel_oseran

Has anyone outed as many key sources as Bob Woodward?
The first excerpt of my upcoming memoir, Secrets, is out in print in the @NewYorker. It is about Richard G. Darman, who was one of my important secret sources in the Reagan and Bush administrations—and my best friend. I write about some of the painful consequences of getting too close to a source and how it changed my approach to reporting. Secrets is available for early preorder at the link or via @amazonbooks @BNBuzz @Target @Walmart @booksamillion simonandschuster.com/books/S…

Um, so you want Israel to annex the “West Bank” and make them all citizens? Deal. But as long as Israel does not annex Judea and Samaria, there is zero reason why noncitizens there should vote in Israeli elections. Think harder and better.
The most laughably stupid Israeli hasbara line you’ll hear today: “Arabs can vote in Israel, so it can’t be apartheid.” Now tell me: how can more than 700,000 Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, vote in Israeli elections, while Palestinians living in the same territory cannot?

We know “Eastern Europeans” is code for Jews. What’s code for Communists? “Ugandans”?
New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day. As we pair syrniki with sour cream in Brighton Beach, look in wonder at a Chagall painting at MoMA and banter with babushkas in Rego Park. Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors. From new immigrants to those who've lived here for generations, Eastern Europeans have built New York City. We owe them a city they can afford to call home.

Election lawyer here. Israel runs model elections. They are secure, efficient, well administered, and nonpartisan. They facilitate voting my Arabs, Christians, various minorities, and Jews. Voting from abroad is not generally allowed, so many Israelis return home to vote. Identification is required to be shown in polling places to vote. Thomas Jefferson is beaming from the democratic heavens.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Apartheid. More than 2 million Muslim Arabs will cast their votes today in Israel 🇮🇱 freely with the full protection of the law and rights they have. More than a dozen of them will be sworn in as members of the new Knesset. They are judges, soldiers in the IDF, policemen and women, and full citizens of the strongest Democratic Ally in the world.
