1/2 Interested to see how many people are long on the retail part of Amazon's business. It's overwhelmed with a lot of tat/knock off products these days. Couple this with ratings/reviews scandals & rising import fees from China; ecomm's near future will favour independents.

2/2 Amazon is increasingly becoming a logistics company (see their electric fleet rolling out in SF). With the shift to first party cookies, tools like Shopify & Fast checkout to mirror the incredible UX of Amazon; independent retailers are set for a bumper 5-10 years.

Definitely room for some serious disruption here. 😊 Especially as more companies move to a fully remote/remote hybrid workforce.

Hiring in the digital marketing space seems to be a bit broken to me. Why? 1) Lack of salary transparency 2) Some (not all) recruiters lack basic industry knowledge 3) Years experience ≠ skill level 4) Lack of confidentiality 5) Remote roles have democratized the talent pool

My remarketing ad of the day. Not sure what I've been looking at to trigger this. But I like it. 🕺

Have the ad approval team clocked off early for the weekend? @GoogleAds there is no way these spam ads should get through approval in the first place. Surely your automation would pick this up? Not good for the integrity of the paid search industry if users are seeing these.

Didn't realise Twitter Ads had it's own transparency tool (just like the FB ad library). Was trying to screengrab a nice Monzo promoted tweets campaign I saw from the other week. Handy! ads.twitter.com/transparency…

It's wild how many programmatic/remarketing platforms are still getting away with this. Some excellent research from @nandoodles in this article. Remember advertisers: if your platform conceals placements/individual website data it's never a good thing and always dig deeper!

"Tracker-driven behavioural advertising is bad...They spend their hard-earned money on invasive ad tech that results in no more sales or brand recognition than if they had relied on contextual advertising." Excellent article on "clean" advertising: adactio.com/journal/17658

Thought I'd test out the Pixel 5 "night sight" camera on a late night stroll around Edinburgh yesterday. Sad to see the streets so quiet, but hopefully not for too long...

Whisky (& rugby) fans: some good deals on Amazon Prime Day today i.e. Glenlivet 15 for £35. If you do buy something today, use this link smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/SC0478… to donate to My Name'5 Doddie foundation with your purchase. Cheers!🥃
New blog post: sparktoro.com/blog/too-much-… Too much creative marketing is stifled by the (largely impossible, mostly fictitious) obsession with attribution.
