Day 29 - notice and let go
Did you sit today? I did. As did Violet aka Penelope Shnuffalopagous in “Lovingkindess.”

Day 24 & 25 - Sympathetic joy
“This week we’re going to practice meditations that allow us to extend lovingkindness, compassion, and sympathetic joy to everyone on our subway car.. looking for the good doesn’t

Day 23 - Still here.
Just because I haven’t posted, doesn’t mean I haven’t meditated. This week we explore inviting the world at large in an all comprehensive lovingkindness bomb. The image that has come up often during this challenge has

Day 18 - Help me, help you.
Including difficult people in my lovingkindness practice is probably as hard as steadying the mind. Harder. Harder because it’s not about them, it’s about me.

My hurt feelings. My animosity toward a perceived slight or judgement or whatever. So this time around I tried something different. I reminded myself that

everybody wants to be happy. Yes, even the people who luxuriate in the slimy putrid malevolent oils of hatred want to be happy. Happy, not jolly. Happy as in free from suffering. #mettaOctober #commit2sit #virtualsangha
Day 17 - love your enemies
“Every person has the potential to be unpleasant and harmful just as every person has the potential to be pleasant and helpful.” Love Your Enemies - S. Salzberg, R. Thurman

Who are your outer enemies? ( perceived or actual) Who are your inner enemies (anger, hatred)? Can you include them in your lovingkindness practice?

Day 16 - difficult people
To be kind is to empathetically recognize that another person desires to be happy and to avoid suffering, and then to act accordingly. When we’re kind we act in ways that support another person’s

overcome resentments and to tune into our inherent capacity for kindness. It’s also interesting in that it can make a huge difference to our lives to let go of anger and ill will, and instead to be kind.
#mettaOctober #commit2sit #virtualsangha
So if we’re cultivating kindness toward someone that causes harm, we’re really wishing that they cease causing harm.
If this proves to be too difficult, return to wishing lovingkindness to yourself.
