I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been promoted to the Assistant Program Director role on @espnthefan! I’m incredibly grateful and excited for this next chapter, and I’m looking forward to working alongside @JordanBianucci as we continue building and improving ESPN The Fan on 103.9 and 98.3 FM across Utah, Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties. First and foremost, thank you to everyone at Broadway Media and my bosses for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I’m extremely grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me. A very special thank you to @BenCriddleShow, who has been a tremendous mentor to me for the past five years who has given me the opportunity to find my voice on @CougSportsMedia and grow. I’m incredibly thankful for everything I’ve learned from so much him and for the all opportunities he’s given me. I’m excited to keep working, keep learning and continue doing everything I can to make ESPN The Fan better. On to the next chapter. Let’s get to work 🙏🏾

I’ve debated whether I should post this, but I feel the need to share my perspective regarding Treyson Bourguet’s recent social media post. As a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, someone who moved to Utah for school, and now someone who professionally covers college athletics in this state, I have a little bit more of an outside perspective. It’s disheartening to see the contention between BYU and Utah fans, especially when the conversation revolves around what it means to be “Christlike.” I respect BYU fans who have defended Treyson, just as I respect the Utah fan who disagree with his comments. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but disagreement doesn’t justify name-calling, personal attacks, or tearing others down. Having just attended a church and having a lesson today centered on love, I find it disappointing that so much of the online conversation reflects the opposite. We can disagree respectfully without questioning someone’s faith, character, or intentions. There is already enough hatred and negativity in this world. Regardless of your religious beliefs or university allegiance, I believe we could all benefit from greater kindness, humility, and self-reflection, myself included. I’m disappointed as human being. I hope we all continue to strive by demonstrating love, especially toward those with whom we disagree. Just my thoughts with all the back and forth.

Dave Aranda gave Baylor football its single greatest season going 12-2 in 2021. But the program never capitalized on that momentum as the transfer portal hit college football, or NIL nearly soon enough. Dave Aranda is a great man and I wish him the best moving forward. #SicEm #CFB

Six moments that hurt BYU against UCF… what would you add? 1. An INT turns the first half. BYU led 14–10 and was moving again. Bear’s interception gave UCF another possession, and the Knights scored with :04 left to take a 17–14 halftime lead. 2. Third-and-17 turns into 56 yards. Isaiah Glasker missed the tackle on Hornes’ screen reception. UCF finished the drive with a touchdown to lead 24–21. Missed tackles hurt BYU throughout. 3. Three runs and a punt. After a huge fourth-down stop by the defense, BYU’s offense ran three times—including on third-and-6—and punted, giving UCF another chance to win it. 4. An overturned takeaway and a costly flag. BYU’s apparent strip-sack late in regulation became an incomplete pass after review. Tanuvasa’s unsportsmanlike penalty moved UCF into field-goal range. Satuala’s block kept BYU alive. 5. A missed sack becomes a touchdown. BYU couldn’t get Jenkins on the ground in the first OT. He escaped and found Derry for the touchdown that tied it 31–31. 6. Three points become eight. The disputed roughing-the-kicker flag in double OT gave UCF fresh downs instead of a field goal. The Knights followed with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
It’s never one play that loses you the game… But which one play do you want back? Which one play did you hate the most as a BYU fan?

I believe two things can be true. The official made a poor call, and Kendall Wall needs to be more disciplined. I’ll reiterate that you should not put yourself in a position where officials make a specific call. It’s fair to criticize the team for not simply backing off to allow UCF to kick the field goal and ensure a flag wasn’t thrown. This would’ve given BYU’s offense a chance to win the game. I respect the effort on the play, not the lack of execution. #BYUFootball
On replay.. awful call.

BYU’s defense has been underwhelming against UCF. When the team reviews the footage, they’ll identify several missed opportunities.

UCF just wants it more than BYU right now. More physical in the run game and at the line of scrimmage. #BYUFootball
