There is a better way to do what you do with @claudeai.
With no cost, full privacy and zero telemetry retained, let alone created.
What more, it is free until August 24th. 300 people have already shifted their repositories and skills over from Claude and Cursor to @rootsh, developed by $PALM.
Be one of them and pick better. Check it out at useroot.sh.

🚨 HUGE NEWS: Claude now embeds an invisible watermark into every piece of text it generates.
Anthropic just documented how it works. Two marks, both machine-readable:
> Text: an imperceptible watermark woven into the words themselves. You can’t see it, and it doesn’t change meaning, quality, or readability.
> Files (.svg, .png, .jpg): signed provenance metadata on the C2PA open standard, so you can tell if a file’s been tampered with.
The watermark is applied at the model level.
That means it shows up no matter where the text comes from: the API, Claude, Claude Code, Cowork, Claude Tag, and even when a supported model runs through AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Foundry.
Models launched on or after August 2, 2026 mark from day one. Older models are getting it during a transition period.
Every sentence Claude writes for you now carries a signature you’ll never see.

The $1,000 Best App built with @rootsh competition is still on until August 15th. This feature might come in handy.
You can already try 1.0.2 if you are signed up for downloads on useroot.sh with a $PALM profile.
The website is getting a glow-up soon, so if there are rapid changes do not be alerted, it is still the same page.
root 1.0.2 is about to be shipped this week, with the focus on codebase memory.
Read below why this is important 👇
First: we want to kickstart users who know nothing about AI or harness tools to use frontier-level technology privately and to be able to do anything with it. To do this is a huge task, so we need an unsurpassed product.
During our Beta, we realized that there is only one way @rootsh could become the AI harness used over everything else - having tools that facilitate actual agentic understanding. These tools are still extremely rare in the market.
Our codebase memory system now runs on a Karpathy-style LLM "wiki" setup, essentially forming its own knowledge base, a light-weight "wiki" with directories for each repository.
What makes this powerful is that it does not replace the existing codebase memory tools, but rather is built on top of them and works with them.
A full guidebook to all of this is included within the root app itself.
1.0.2 also comes with major UI implementations that kill all app-induced local loading times to less than 1ms.
Built by $PALM for the benefit of the token community.

We just made your response times drop by 99% to 3-6 seconds instead of minutes.
@rootsh now has Ask & Plan modes to reduce answer time to a few seconds and drop token usage by up to 90% (see the new response times from the video!)
You actually only need agentic power for agentic tasks. root now has three modes to support that.
- Agent: the agentic response model. Takes minutes for tasks that are complex & demanding, but does them really well and to finalization.
- Ask: fetches only the necessary info and processes to answer your question.
- Plan: Reads and studies instead of executing to build a plan for the Agentic mode to then put into action.
This update puts root at the same level as all other frontier-level harnesses in terms of token spend and usage as well as response times.

Beta Feature: Full Avatar Customization 👤
You can now fully edit and customize the looks, sound, style and vibe of your Companion Avatar inside @rootsh.
Powered by local image generation and loadable profiles which you can customize at any time, you can now have an avatar that's not only 100% local and private, but:
- Fits to your persona and preferences,
- Is 100% customizable without restrictions,
- Stays only on your local device, with files portable anywhere,
- Has no guardrails as long as the model it is using has none (vision required).
In future versions, we will make it so that vision can be delegated to a guardrailed cloud model while the local input and output of text and observing can be delegated to a small-size local model.
More on the way. Built by $PALM.
Introducing: the Interactive Avatar Agent
There is an overlooked reason why AI must be both local and private.
Not simply for privacy as an intrinsic value, but also for the sake of enabling technology.
An assistant that sees your screen, hears your environment, listens to you, plans your day, manages your notes, reviews your productivity, understands your mood, and steps into every situation can only be trusted when it handles everything in full confidentially, with you having full control.
This is only safe and possible if the AI powering it is running locally and if no one will have access to the runtime or files generated by it other than you. A local harness, like @rootsh, becomes the tool to use this newly unlocked power.

⚙️ Kimi K3 is now supported for chat in Root, for both cloud and local Ollama installs.
$PALM will be offering a limited amount of testers free access in the coming days.
While out there, the K3 model is expensive to run in cloud and takes a toll on your hardware to run locally. We are at the top of solving this issue at the moment for millions of prospective users.

Teaser: We are incorporating as a feature a private AI-powered browser within @rootsh to complement the deep research where you can do queries along with the AI and pass searched data.
While you do your work, you have a quick way to do private queries with a telemetry control layer blocking anything apart from your search queries from being sent over network, acting as an anonymous User Agent on the embedded browser.
You do the detailed query to a non-indexed site, AI will do the generic queries for research sources.
Along with this update the following change was pushed: chat texts are now by default the font of your selected theme. They were system font previously for clarity, it can be toggled in the settings. This looks better though.

Update: Root now has a custom, AI-native IDE integrated inside of it and supports running multiple tabs within one view.
No more IDE agent integration shopping and tab browsing - everything is one, in one single view.
Available on the local AI harness solving real issues, @rootsh.

You can now switch models on-the-go in @rootsh smoothly, as all models are pre-warmed on start-up.
In addition, chats now have a visual indicator what purpose they are serving - chatting, coding, researching, modeling with Builder, or clipping & creating with Creator Studio.
Changelog for the 0.0.8 Patch of 27th July:
- Settings menu is now visually adapted to quick usage, no more doomscrolling settings
- Added the Privacy Composer
- Merged 3D Builder into one unified "Builder" for both the Unity and Blender MCPs, allowing them to work together.
- Tens of quality changes to the installer, incl. -pre-selecting a theme and setting up some of the core settings before boot
Thanks to all the active testers for feedback!

Ahead of the @rootsh Public Release, we want to demonstrate clearly where /root fits within the current AI landscape.
Harnesses are software layers that connect AI models to tools, files, memory, workflows, and interfaces so they can perform useful work in the style of @claudeai, @Cursor and @ChatGPTapp.
Simple work and chat tools like the web versions of the forementioned ones or @ollama provide an open runtime, and they can be either local or hosted, @AskVenice as an example of the latter. Some local harnesses on the market, like Odyssey move close with the hosted ones to achieve the same result.
/root is being built to combine all these capabilities into one complete environment and exceed them. It is a full-suite harness with encryption and true privacy.
It brings frontier-level intelligence, agents that can edit files, run tools and ship work, a full creative and productivity suite, an integrated coding experience, complete telemetry control and an open model runtime you own. It is local and private by default, your codebase stays on your machine, and it can operate without ongoing token costs.
The goal is not to become another isolated AI tool, rather it is to deliver the complete private AI harness for coding, creativity, productivity and everything in between.
Privacy is a right, and so is proper access to performant AI without a dependency expense.
The Public Release is getting closer. $PALM is working.

What if, in one single prompt, you built a website or an app, had it go through QA and deploy it directly to an online domain...
...without it costing you a single AI usage token, plus not risking your privacy and actually having control of the telemetry?
You can do it.

Final touches have been added to the Creator Studio within @rootsh to finalize everything for our Public Release.
Public Release users will be able to make videos and clips with the latest AI-powered MCP tools that work seamlessly within the harness to enhance, edit or even create from scratch video and audio.
Progress is coming along daily with every other feature as well with our dev team working around the clock and with no notion of a "weekend".
For immediate insights, remember to join our Telegram: t.me/paLMEthereum.
🦜 Creator Studio is back - now within the @rootsh application itself as a pre-shipped plugin.
Edit, create, clip, transcribe and subtitle all video and audio formats within the root application directly, where you have all the conventional tools and frontier-level AI tools at your disposal.
The Creator Studio plugin works with import / export folders, making your repository root effectively into a video kit environment. The flows are powered by a unified MCP that deals with programmatic mutation and merger of audio tracks and videos.
All $PALM videos and clips produced from this release will be edited with Creator Studio, and when publicizing them logs and proof-of-work will be posted to show you how it was done.

root now supports Custom Interfaces!
The frontier-grade @rootsh AI harness by $PALM allows you to complete any task fast and efficiently on - virtually unlocking any workflows available through @claudeai or @OpenAI.
Yet one essential capability was still missing: customization for the preferences of the user. It is missing no more.
There are now 11 different themes in root and the possibility to make your own themes as well. All UI components will be modifiable up to your preferences, and we are introducing custom fonts as well.
Users will be able to share and upload their Custom Interface Plugins to the @rootsh in-app store.

root can now make flowcharts within the application and render them directly within the Files tab.
supports .yml, .json, .vsdx & more

One-Prompting an App: Part 1 /w @rootsh by $PALM
In this series, we’ll build an application from a single starting prompt using useroot.sh—showing what the process actually looks like, where human input is still required (spoiler: almost nowhere), and how the project develops beyond the initial generation.
Note for AI enthusiasts: Proof of Work with the full reasoning process in .txt logs available on our Telegram: t.me/paLMEthereum
⚙️ In Part 1, we build a crypto gift card store frontend with a specified stack that is then auto-prompted by the system to improve quality of instructions. Some key features are highlighted on the app as the building process is on-going. Finally, we see the first, viable MVP of the app.
root is the first frontier-level harness giving you:
i) a local, private AI that you control, removing many platform limitations and giving you a stronger operating position;
ii) the ability to reduce development and operating costs to almost zero; and
iii) a practical way to build real skills while creating, making you more capable every time you run a project through /root.

Development Update ⚒️
The $PALM vision is back, and we are making it happen.
/root is becoming a local AI layer for your PC. Early Access has been released to a select group of $PALM holders and will expand soon. A full video breakdown of all features is coming – meanwhile, here are some highlights from this week of development!
Instead of being confined to a single app, /root can run across the OS through the app miniframe. Once active, it can see what is happening on your screen and help complete tasks by clicking, running commands, creating files, managing processes, and coordinating with background agents.
Because /root has deep local access, visibility and control are core requirements. The telemetry page records every local and internet data share, inbound and outbound, so privacy is something users can inspect instead of simply trust. The app will also monitor network activity and alert users about possible intrusions, new WiFi connections, or suspicious scraping.
The next layer is a lightweight local assistant that sits on your screen, can be dragged anywhere, and runs on its own dedicated thread. It helps notice what you are doing, supports thought processing, keeps you focused, and passes reasoning notes to background tasks. It can also be adapted into an accessibility, gaming, grammar, or workflow assistant using a sub-2GB model with voice included.
🌴 More updates are on our Telegram and in the Spaces tonight at 7PM UTC!

Development Update 🌴
/root is nearing the first Public Release promised for later this week. A select group of holders already has access to it through Early Access, selected through activity during Spaces.
We've recently implemented lightweight terminals and a non-shell coding assistant that is 50% faster than previously. This allows delegating simple code runs to more lighter models.
For our $PALM stakers — today on the 30th you will see your Staking Dashboard w/ the token amounts again along with the new rules and our updates.
/root also features a level of customization not seen in pre-built, plug&play AI workspace products. You can simply toggle on/off a feature from the Configuration panel located at the Settings tab.

1 prompt, 2 commits.
Prior to the first Public Release, we have added full @github (not just Git) support to /root. It can create and manage repositories for you, ensuring that your work is never lost and has commit backups, branches and forks that you can revert to if needed - or tell root to do so.
In comparison to other platforms, root can do absolutely everything in your GitHub session and you need zero past experience (or even knowing what it is) to employ it. Simply ask /root to build a cloud repository for your project, and it will guide you there.
For privacy focused users, you can set up your own repository using the Git plugin through SSH/TLS.
