One beautiful thing about Sora is that it is the antithesis of a TV show. Its unhurried and informal banter helps us introspect the Kerala identity and history while examining the gaps between the state’s progressive ideals and the ground realities.
Today is Kerala Piravi 🌴
For the last eight months, I've been making a Malayalam podcast about all things Kerala.
It is called Sora (as in സൊറ പറയുക), hosted at @IeMalayalam.

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

The AI impact won't be felt immediately through layoffs (existing jobs are sticky), but through a collapse in hiring (jobs that don't yet exist have no stickiness).
I am stunned at the lengths we are going to prevent this protest. If this isn't some way of admitting guilt, what is?

Met someone here. Her brother, early sixties, avid reader, a home full of books. Had a stroke 2 years ago. Recovered now, remembers most of the books he’s read, the stories. But he can’t read. Letters, everything, gone. Learning from alphabets, now at 4th grade level. Life!

The Himalayas-Hindu Kush-Karakoram tectonic region is called the Third Pole of the world because of how much water the glaciers here hold. There have been multiple GLOF events over the years of lesser magnitudes. We have a LOT of warning, nothing in the future should be shocking.

you can tell the way spain was playing that they were going to win because there was no single player in their side who had more ball control, they were one. even after many substitutes, no differences were felt in their play. such a lovely piece of football

The middle classes in Kerala think it would be all skyscrapers and flying cars if it weren’t for the unions holding back “progress”, while forgetting that it’s the left and its organising that is responsible for there being a middle class in the first place.

Undercutting unionised labour is *the* capitalist tactic and I for one am glad these unions are strong enough to protect themselves from it.
In Kerala, labour unions don’t just threaten companies. They intimidate ordinary people too. Ever wondered how?
They treat labour-oriented jobs as their birthright, refusing to let anyone else do the work. In many cases, business owners and ordinary citizens are forced either to employ them or do the job themselves.
