Today’s train strike meant a drive of 2 hours due to extensive delays and roadworks on the M1. I have a CT Scan today, for some reason a lot of the clinics are closed and they have a low number of appointments for CT Scans. I had to travel from Bedford to Mile End in East London.
Dropped in to Porsche in Silverstone to test drive a Taycan. Spent a reasonable time in a Taycan 4S. It was very planted, a very different drive to the Model3 as you must use the breaks. They have a real presence on the road and feel lower and wider. I noticed 3 things.
1. The steering wheel is better setup for sport driving and feels very different to the touch, it’s sporty. 2. It was very stable in the suspension, you could feel it had potential if really thrown into corners. 3. Low speed was very easy, it was very settled, then at higher speeds the one thing I missed was that emotional “wow” I get in the model3 it never gets old, in the Porsche it was just missing.
If you want a sports car for the road, you may use on the track the Taycan felt like the right choice. If you need a daily drive which you can also stretch when you want to the model3 may be a better choice. Not sure I can warrant 2x the price for a Porsche, but it is more likely like buying a work of art rather than a functional tool.
Will be at #DTW23 Ignite. Looking forward to hearing from
Our customers and sharing how we deliver innovation for Telecommunications. Also an opportunity to see what other vendors are building and how trends are developing.
Just traded in my 2020 model3 long range, which came over from Fremont. It’s been a superb vehicle for 3.5 years, very reliable and no range issues.
Upgraded to the last of the 2023 model3 Performance. Adds heat pump, powered rear boot, and all the premium features that come with the performance. It’s a fantastic car.
The reduced price and 0% offer means I had to pay £170 in difference. My insurance also refunded me 50p. It feels like a different car, solid suspension, tighter steering, more stable at speed and very quiet. Not sure the highland in October will add enough to drive more value in my case.

Absolute privilege to share the stage with this amazing team of @AWS and @cloudera data leaders in Tel Aviv. #evolve23 @RamVenkatash – at Israel
It was a real pleasure discussing with Camille @morhardt and Tom @tommgarrison , the trends we are seeing across our customers in different industries, with respect to cloud migration, stressed exit and repatriation of workloads and data. Thanks for hosting the discussion and raising these important questions. Generally with data, consider when things go wrong, when regulations change beyond your local control. Consider regularly checking up on your own privacy. For example when was the last time you reviewed the skills available to your voice assistant?
We explore these topics and more. Let us know your own stories and experiences.
Early education about the risks and precautions of #datasecurity is crucial according to Chris @royles. Hear more about this and #repatriatingdata in #InTechnology with @tommgarrison and Camille @morhardt.

#BBCMarathon Best wishes Jim, running for Charity and research in Parkinson’s. Cheering you on! Enjoy.
Even after blocking and unfollowing @elonmusk I keep getting mentions and retweets about him. How do I filter everything linked to that account in this town square?
It’s been a tough few weeks. Caught a chest infection and suffered an adrenal crisis, ended up in A&E. a week in hospital, needing a week to recover.
Now been on another course of antibiotics and finally, finally after weeks of no sleep and constant coughing .. things are getting better. Going to give myself some more days to recover fully.
So given my heart condition, I am on 2 medications. One is #Warfarin, this helps keep my blood thin and reduce the risk of clots, the second is #Prednisolone which helps with inflammation around the heart.
Back in 2020, I suffered #Eosinophilic #Myocarditis. This is a very rare disease and as my consultant said my wife and my age saved me. I will share some of my experiences. When this hit me my eosinophil count exceeded 10, when it should be < 0.5.
Eosinophil's which I struggle to pronounce, are part of the immune system, they protect against parasites. This means when they go wrong, they can cause damage in a short time. In my case they attacked my heart muscle.
