Last call to sign up for Jr. Leagues! 🏀 This year’s new program features brand-new NBA & WNBA jerseys, dedicated boys and girls divisions for grades 2–5, and a coed division for kindergarten and 1st grade!
As part of our Equine Assisted Learning program, students from both @RPS205 and Galapagos Charter School visited Lockwood Park earlier this week, with a special guest appearance by Steve Shannon, our new Community Engagement Specialist for @rpdfun!
As the students participated in our pony trail walks, they first learned about mindfulness and leadership to bond with the ponies as they guided them along the trail. This allows our students a unique opportunity to utilize their social and emotional skills through co-regulation with the ponies!

Our sports facilities aren’t the only thing bringing sports tourism to town! Roughly 400–500 riders hit the mountain biking trails at Atwood Park Saturday for the Wisconsin Off-Road Series’ Border Battle, which also served as the Illinois State Championships.
This marks the second time in the event’s 35-year history it has held a race in Illinois. rockfordnewsfirst.com/2026/0…
