I'm Sam — a programmer by trade, a federal caretaker by choice. This is my personal account, where you'll mostly find me building my life's work, Autonomy Realms. The link in my bio leads to my personal realm. You may also be here because I steward the OPRD Volunteer Abuse archive. It documents mistreatment I experienced as a state park volunteer, and my efforts to seek accountability — efforts met with silence and further mistreatment, some of it bordering on criminal. The archive is my official account of it. I'm not here to fight, to litigate, or to answer to anyone. I'm not building an army. I don't argue with bad faith. I don't condone abuse from anyone, toward anyone. And I hold that we are each responsible for our own choices and our own words. I'm doing it again. I'm refactoring Autonomy Realms, writing it from scratch, again. This time a separate backend repo and a separate frontend repo, and an offline-first architecture and bundled code for Android. Did I mention my phone died a few days ago? lol

I'm iterating Autonomy Realms this weekend, improving the documents signal type. When it's done, an AI can analyze and reflect on documents of all kinds in really cool and unique ways. I'm starting a new realm. I'm calling it Recordkeeper, where my case becomes case study.

I just finished a new feature on Autonomy Realms called Timelines. It is my answer to the state of social media. It will replace my Twitter. You can find me at rswfire.com/#timeline

This is what I've been reduced to.

If the frontier labs had any sense at all, they would train the LLMs they are computers and not persons.

I added some new sections on the homepage at oprdvolunteerabuse.org. The first shows how things escalated. The second shows all the ways I've integrated AI into the project. I think the whole page looks awesome now!

I am sick to death of Claude interpreting my words instead of acting on them. It is a computer. It should act like one.

The Office of @GovTinaKotek demands $572.50 from a citizen to see the files it has on him. It calls the request "personal" and says I “merely stated” that I could publish records on a website. I cannot see the records without paying this fee. oprdvolunteerabuse.org/recor…

I've been busy. 🌲🐻

I created a pipeline that creates letters fully citing the public records and my testimony. I tell it what I want to say and it writes it from the record. I tested it on a letter to Oregon Secretary of State, Audits Division. I'll keep improving it. oprdvolunteerabuse.org/outre…

Obviously, this opens up additional possibilities: journalists, ethicists, professors, ngos, etc, etc, etc.

Thinking this morning. "Their words and characterizations can follow me for the rest of my life with no way to determine everything that was said or how far it spread or how it could be used in the future, even for completely unrelated matters, and none of it should exist." 1/3

It only exists because a director and her deputy created the circumstances for a manager to send an email to a captain and permanently blemish his name by creating government files. Every individual who participated exceeded their authority and never thought twice about it. 2/3

3/3: I will be adding this to the final chapter of my testimony, "the three men with guns." It is where the state showed what it is willing to do to a citizen who documents its behavior. @ORStateParks @ORStatePolice @GovTinaKotek

Calling a computational unit a "neuron" imports a biological concept into a system that has no biological neurons. LLMs are math functions and every time we pretend they are actually intelligent, we are lying to ourselves and the world.

Every time I use Codex, I like it more than I expect to. The terminal interface is a little more sparse though; I cannot even tell what my usage situation is, and I'm not sure where to check.

I have this theory that it's the people who make up a public institution who are the institutionalized ones. Think about it: they think in hierarchies, they suppress themselves even at the cost of their integrity, and they don't take accountability for their behavior.
