2. Also, Delhi Police wants @internetfreedom gone from X.
The crime? Talking about a legal notice sent in RSS's name, which demanded that IFF stop documenting the govt's social media censorship.
The group that tracks takedowns got a takedown request.

Update:
X has informed the Delhi HC, that the recent takedown notice sent to @internetfreedom did not come from Delhi Police but by an “imposter”.
No action has been taken against IFF by X

RTI404 is documenting the govt’s attack on RTI
If you filed an RTI that was denied or received no response, submit those to rti404.com/add-to-record or write to us at [email protected] with your submissions
Each denial exposes how RTI is being systematically eroded
Freedom, justice, liberty & fraternity: RTI ensures these principles stay alive.
The Act guarantees our right to hold the govt accountable. While it creatively dodges Qs, murals from RTI's birthplace are telling: We file RTIs, therefore we are citizens.

The Union govt in indulging in double speak on the privacy law. It says it doesn't want to kill journalism but it was well aware that's exactly what the DPDP Act does. It fooled the press associations into thinking it was going to addresses the concerns of journalists but it quietly notified the law. We @reporters_co have taken the govt to court for its double speak and Trojan horse law. It's now in the court and legacy media has also followed.
Read more on how the DPDP Act kills your right to hold the govt accountable for its misdeeds and deeds.

NDTV, Network18 & other 'legacy media' have finally woken up to how the govt's Privacy Act stands to impact journalism. Before them, @reporters_co had filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Why did it take the others so long?

Hear hear, we at @reporters_co and @rti404 have been opposing the DPDP Act and its devastating impact on information that is of public interest.
Perhaps the govt will sit up now that bigger players see it as being damaging to them as well.

We at The Reporters Collective @reporters_co, a tiny non-profit newsroom, stood up to defend journalism against govt attempt to paralyse the profession through a Trojan horse in the Privacy law. We filed a case before the Supreme Court in February 2026 and launched rti404.com, a watchdog project to protect RTI and journalism, both.
Months later the for- profit big media businesses have realised, not just journalism but revenue of their media business would be hurt too by what the govt is doing.
We are glad they have eventually seen value in joining us.

EXCLUSIVE: India’s biggest news publishers including Ambani's Network18, Adani's NDTV, Indian Express, Times Internet & others mount the most high-profile challenge yet to Modi’s privacy law, warning it would “render investigative journalism a benign and neutered recorder of events.”
DNPA (@publishers_news) has taken the law to the Supreme Court. They argue it would trample investigative work and let New Delhi identify journalists’ sources.
The provisions “constitute pre-censorship which is anathema to any democracy worth its name,” the group’s 698-page filing says.
The key concerns:
🔹 Consent: requiring a journalist to notify the subject of an investigation and seek consent “would allow that subject to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses”
🔹 Erasure: people can withdraw consent and demand their data be erased, which the group says could force publishers to unpublish or heavily redact news reports
🔹 Sources: a “nakedly unguided” power to demand information that “can extend to privileged communications in possession of a reporter or the informant”
In a letter to the government, the group said India “has chosen to grant broad exemptions to the state, while failing to extend any corresponding protection to the press.”

21 years ago, a people’s movement in Beawar, Rajasthan, compelled the India govt to pass the RTI Act. The anniversary celebration included MKSS’s “ghotala yatra” (scam procession), a riff on Advani’s Ram Rath Yatra.

The Ram Mandir is in the news because of a donations scandal. Back in 2023 itself, an RTI applicant had sought the government order containing details of how the Temple Trust would be run.
By God’s grace, this RTI was denied.
