I feel immensely honored and just seriously excited that I will be joining this list in 2027!
By the end of this year CJ will have published 79 books with 5 more coming in 2027. Needless to say, we had to revamp our books page to give it some organization and provide a page for each book. Enjoy: cowboyjamboreemagazine.com/b…

I've been in a reading funk and needed a short novel to get me back into things. Natalia Ginzburg's "The Road to the City" did the trick. It's a perfect little book from the first to last sentence.

From Consider This by @chuckpalahniuk: "We're trained to live in constant denial of the miraculous. And it's only by telling our stories that we get any sense of how extraordinary human existence can actually be." Thanks @cterlson for recommending this gem of a book.
I'm always on the search for good stories that capture the complex dynamics and allure of modern Greece. This story by Eleni Vlachos (@youbigtalker) does just that. Read it and be mesmerized: themarlowereview.com/migrati…
I just found a Greek teacher in Athens who loves literature. We talked about Raymond Carver. She told me that this is how his name is spelled in Greek and I'm so pleased with this knowledge: Ρέυμοντ Κάρβερ.

RIP Anne Dillard.

I love the writerly community here. But I'm learning, slowly, that there are certain words never to use in a tweet. Who would have thought this little corner of the world would attract bots and scammers?
Guys! I just sent my manuscript to my developmental editor. And I got positive feedback (with good critiques) from my first beta reader. I'm feeling more confident and also just still kind of amazed that I've written a book. I did it! Now...the sea.
What a lovely surprise that @UnderbellyPress has featured my story this week!! Go ahead and read it…it’s short.
This week's Thursday Throwback is a snippet of Carapace by Rebecca Tiger. @rtigernyc
We loved its distinct narrative voice, the shocking ending, and Sophie's authenticity.
Read it now in Issue 5.

ALT Thursday Throwback Carapace by Rebecca Tiger 'This year, it’s turtles. Sophie marvels at their contradictions. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside. She chews her fingernails, sometimes until they bleed. “What do you have to worry about?” her mother asks. Sophie’s bedroom now houses her baby brother’s crib. Sometimes she plays in the room’s large closet, reading to her imaginary turtle, Rufus. Her father got her a copy of Minn of the Mississippi from the library. She learns that a turtle cannot regrow a limb. But a damaged shell might come back. Sophie eyes her stumpy nails with hope.' Read it now in Issue 5.
I realize I'm biased but @CowboyJamboree is putting out the coolest books. I'm ordering all of them.
So excited to have this out in the world! Big thanks to @gritvanwinkle and @CowboyJamboree for the excellent production and supporting my work!
I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
MOBY DICK for our modern times? Who knows? But it's certainly brilliant because @thedrevlow always brings the gritty goods: cowboyjamboreemagazine.com/t…
I noticed that my one negative post (about academia) received far more attention than the ones about my and other people's publications. Or how much I love the writing community here. Which I do. You all are the best and are a daily reminder that I am truly living my dream.
Retiring from academia was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's a rot that is much deeper than the people posting their hot takes here could ever grasp. If you think you understand it, you probably don't unless you've spent decades ensnared in it and even then...
Farm shares are a roller coaster of emotions. I feel so virtuous when I sign on to one then like such an idiot when I can't identify half of the vegetables in it.
