“Sometimes I see films, sometimes I golf” - Sean Fennessey | @TheAlligator @studentmedia25 always

(Incoming emotional thread, 1/9) I left The Alligator office for the last time as sports editor an hour ago. For the 16th and final time, I budgeted inches, edited words, and, as night bled into morning, collectively descended into insanity with my best friends in the world

We should pretty much just stop referencing Worthy’s 40 yards dash time when talking about his downfield targets.

if two 38 yr old backup QBs was doing what Caleb & Maye doing rn it would be a whole bunch of “these new QBs just not as good as the old ones 🙁” tweets up n down the TL

It's incredible that people have become so advanced metrics-pilled on here that folks are talking about adot like that and you can't just be like "okay but what is happening on the throws? Which guy is this working for?" THE GOAL IS STILL YARDS AND POINTS GUYS
Caleb’s Adot and Bo Nix’s Adot are two very very different journeys to end up in a similar destination

Playing “honorably” isn’t determined solely by aDOT. Playing in a west coast system with bad WRs and a 37 yo TE will lend to a low aDOT Throwing to open players on time & w/ anticipation is honorable. Which is why KC is top-10 in DB EPA and ANY/A
(Patrick Mahomes has not played honorably in a long time)

It feels like there’s an old man slowly peeling himself off the ground or gingerly hobbling back to the huddle on every 49ers play, and then you look up and they have 500 yards of offense.

Made an error by saying r-squared when it’s just r so here’s the fixed version!
I looked at the correlation between QB Stats and Win%. I found EPA and ANY/A to explain win% the best while aDoT, TTT, and completion% do not explain win% as well

“He wanted to play” Pro athletes have gladiator tunnel vision, half of them will kill themselves on the field if you let them. Part of the job of the organization is to keep them from doing that.

Ik the initial media hype went above it and he’s an easy target because of that, but why are people acting like Manning is the first 5 star QB to underperform. 2024 class alone has 3 you could argue have had worse outcomes (2 of which there’s an easy case for)
Arch Manning has got to be one of the most overrated quarterbacks in recent college football history

I think so many people misunderstand what Fitzpatrick is saying. He's not mad that Bo Nix is bad. He's mad that Bo Nix is a coward
Why isn’t he ripping Darnold? Nix wasn’t even the worst QB on the field tonight

If you don’t think people are going to argue between which 8-4 or 9-3 team deserves to get in you are out of your mind
The idea of a 24-team College Football Playoff isn’t bad. More conferences get a chance to prove themselves, fewer arguments over deserving teams being left out, and more postseason college football for fans.

Bo Nix is averaging 3.6 air yards per completion. The lowest for a full season for qualifying QB since 2006 was Aaron Rodgers at 3.7 last season
