Ireland has done well from tech and Dublin is a real Euro hub for name brand companies. While we have many startup success stories (@fin_ai!!!), I want to see more. We need to de-risk the future, and invest in the next crop.
Glad to see we are: siliconrepublic.com/start-up…

Inspired by @QuinnyPig running Doom entirely in DNS and regretting that I'll miss his visit to the Fin office tomorrow, I made a program to turn a static binary compiled for RISC-V into a self contained mysql dump which runs entirely in one recursive CTE. Doom runs at 1.5fps!

I'm thrilled that @brian_scanlan from @fin_ai will be joining my AI Transformation course as our first guest speaker.
Fin has transformed itself into one of the most AI-pilled organizations out there. They are now reaping the rewards of this transformation, enjoying a 3x increase in their engineering velocity, while so many teams remain stuck at only a 30% improvement.
So much of their success comes down to the work they've done to build a robust AI platform that compound's the team's effectiveness, including:
- Standardizing and betting heavily on a single agentic platform for the entire team
- Creating a shared skills marketplace that anyone can publish their skills to and enable anyone on the team to re-use
- Creating the systems so that designers can ship code to production, significantly increasing the product's UI polish
I can't wait for Brian to share Fin's playbook with the class.

Context management is one of the biggest levers of improving Claude sessions quality and keeping costs in check. One of the core things we focus on @fin_ai engineering. I wrote about it on the Fin blog!

I've been loving pi-autoresearch from @davebcn87 and @tobi but have been back in Claude Code for my personal projects recently. In honour of @ClaudeDevs shipping mods I've made github.com/minuteman3/claude… to bring the workflow and ideas to Claude Code.

.@yukihiro_matz appears to have achieved hard takeoff. He's merged 200 PRs in the last 24 hours to spinel and 1000 this week

This time last week we were still watching these talks, and now they're already online. 💪 Enjoy!
All Rails World 2026 talks now online!
Last week more than 1,000 developers gathered in Austin to hear talks from 27 speakers. While all four keynotes got everyone talking about AI, this year’s talks covered a good balance of what's new in Rails and how Rails developers are putting AI to work: from harnesses to Herb, Active Search to HotCell, generators to Lexxy, and so much in between.
If you got caught in the hallway track, or couldn't make it to Austin, catch up on what you missed here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL…

Another epic Rails World in the books. Nearly 1100 people! Austin did not disappoint, neither did the content.
Amazing work @AmandaBPerino and team as well as all the speakers who put in a ton of time to make this event a delight.
I really enjoyed @robbyrussell, @flavorjones, and @ryan_sherlock talks.
As expected @dhh did not mince words, and the message of optimism for the future echoed loudly around the entire venue.
See you all in Lisbon 🇵🇹 next year.

🧑💻 AI is dramatically increasing the amount of code teams can produce. But code generation is only one part of software delivery. What have teams had to change - in planning, architecture, review, testing, shipping, and collaboration - to keep pace?
At today's closed door Rails at Scale Summit, Shopify hosted the AI panel: When code is no longer the bottleneck, to hear perspectives from @rails orgs at various scales. Thanks to our participants: @Zendesk, @salesforce's fin, and Perry St.
It's just amazing to be able to use @Starlink on a long haul flight. Today is the first, I can never go back. Rails World, see you soon 😄

I have been managing our claude settings, best practices & plugins ecosystems @fin_ai for quite some time. We have just started introducing codex into the mix and there are some interesting things I observed while trying to figure out compatibility 👇

We ended up rolling out a deterministic hook that slaps Claude on the wrist with non-zero exit code and a little context injection on how we want our code comments (no comments is the best). Result on the screenshot - we are back to pre-Opus 4.7 comment % in our PRs!

It's a done deal!
We have officially completed our acquisition of @Fin_AI! 🚀
By bringing their customer agent platform to Salesforce, we’re expanding customer choice with fast-to-deploy, autonomous service agents that resolve complex queries end to end across every channel.
Welcome to Salesforce, Fin!

Hi all, looking forward to tomorrow (Sept 10's meetup!). To speed up entry to the building, it would be great if anyone attended could fill in the Fast Track form in the comment on the meetup event page 🙌
Can't wait to see you there!
🚂 Ruby Ireland is back!
Agents of Concurrency - September 10th at @fin_ai
Jean Boussier makes the case for multiprocessing in Rails, while Ryan Sherlock gets into shipping AI agents on Rails - fast, repeatedly, and in production.
Thx Fin!

Replying to @sfrubyconf @marcoroth_
- Ryan Sherlock (@ryan_sherlock). He's the senior director of engineering at @fin_ai. In his talk, he'll explain who watches the agents generating 95% of PRs at Fin, and general learnings from agent-coding on its three-million-line Rails monolith.
- Ben Sheldon (@bensheldon). He's the co-founder and CTO at Frontdoor Benefits. This talk shares the story of his company and how he's building a monolithic Rails app that does 10x more with a team 1/5th the size of what he envisioned.
- Madison Sites. She's a staff software engineer at @OrderCo_ (also sponsoring the conference). Her talk is about navigating Rails apps so all data is reflective of the truth.
Come join @_byroot, Ruby Ireland, and I at our @fin_ai Dublin office on September 10th to talk about multiprocessing in Rails and how we ship.
