You can’t get to affordability without defeating corruption and if you pretend otherwise you will fail at both.

Reminder that Democrats never win by convincing Republicans to vote for them, they win by convincing people who aren’t usually politically active to get politically active.

DEMOCRATS WIN SENATE POPULAR VOTE ACROSS FORMER CONFEDERATE STATES
Democrats won the combined Senate popular vote across ten former Confederate states, securing 20,782,908 votes (53.74%) to Republicans' 17,888,197 (46.26%)—a margin of nearly 2.9 million votes.
The result is a major victory for Democrats in a region Republicans have dominated for decades. High Black voter turnout helped fuel the result, carrying particular historical significance in states where Black Americans were once denied the right to vote.
Democrats broke decades-long losing streaks in Texas and South Carolina. James Talarico became the first Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from Texas since Lloyd Bentsen in 1988, while Annie Andrews delivered South Carolina's first Democratic Senate victory since 1998.

Mamdani getting elected and spending a year on extremely popular projects helped Dems everywhere imo.
He was supposed to be on the new Mount Rushmore of scary liberals. Saw him on lots of attack mailers. Didn't scare people at all.
When I sat down w Mamdani during the 2025 primary he said his model was Bernie in Burlington - the "ooh, scary socialist" mayor who capitalizes on all the attention he gets and makes civic improvements so it stops being scary. And so far that's clearly worked. semafor.com/article/06/12/20…

Democrats have been gifted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to finally remake the nation.
The next president needs to be FDR 2.0 or this will all be for naught.

NEW: Economic populism helped deliver impressive victories for Democrats across the nation. But those gains could be fickle and short-lived or long-lasting and durable.
To keep and maintain working class majorities, here’s 5 specific ideas for what they need to do next.
Keep! It! Up!
Politics is not just about winning elections, but winning an agenda. And winning an agenda requires the right leadership
NEW: House Dems "inundated" w/ calls & emails urging them not to elect Jeffries speaker
One member told @axios they got "300-400" calls in 2 days
Another said "over 500"
A third said "higher" than 500: "It's our No. 1 issue, and it's not close." axios.com/2026/11/06/jeffrie…

DEMOCRATS MUST DELIVER
Trumpism grew out of the failure of the Democratic Party to stand with working families. That cannot continue. At a time of unprecedented income and wealth inequality and declining faith in democracy, Democrats MUST deliver. No excuses.
- Medicare for All
- A $20-an-hour minimum wage
- The PRO Act
- A wealth tax on billionaires, which would pay for universal childcare, free public colleges and universities, and a massive housing program
- An AI data center moratorium
- Bringing ICE under control and comprehensive immigration reform
- REAL campaign finance reform

Say it with me now: last night will mean nothing if Jeffries and Schumer remain in power. That’s not hyperbole. A party led by feckless do-nothings who congratulate themselves for legislation that mostly benefits their donors is exactly the party the Democrats must never be again

I say this while fully agreeing with the sentiment here: almost every policy mentioned in this thread originated on the left. And I say that not to say “the left is right” but bc this matters when the pundit class claims progressives are out of step. The ideas are transcendent

Hayes on Medicare for All: "The odds of Donald Trump signing that into law, pretty small--"
Sen. Sanders: "Hold it, hold it, hold it... Our job is to produce it. He wants to veto it, Republicans want to sustain that veto, that is their responsibility, the American people will see it."
