One may miss an actor they never met in person but shared a lifetime of companionship with. Data on attachment:
“As I experience certain sensory input patterns, my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs eventually are anticipated, and even missed when absent.”#TNG
This “sky is the limit” from the last scene of the last episode of TNG hits hard.
Across seven seasons Picard is a man of extraordinary discipline. He embodies reason, responsibility, ethics, restraint, and the pursuit of knowledge.
He has encountered civilizations, confronted gods, traveled through time, experienced an entire alternate lifetime, and faced the limits of human existence.
Yet for seven years, there's one thing he has largely kept himself from experiencing.
The uncomplicated intimacy of belonging.
His officers regularly gather for poker and do all the things one does in a friendly game. Picard keeps his distance.
Then, in the series finale, after confronting the apparent end of humanity and experiencing possible futures in which his relationships have fractured, he walks into the room where his friends are playing cards.
And finally sits down.
He realizes something that all his exploration, intelligence, and authority had never quite taught him.
He had been standing outside a life he was already invited to inhabit.
The universe was never withholding that experience from him.
He was withholding himself from it.
That's an insane realization for a character who has dedicated his existence to discovering what lies beyond the known.
It makes his final words, “The sky's the limit,” almost unbearably beautiful.
The greatest frontier he crosses in that moment is the distance between himself and the people who love him.
Godspeed, Captain. The sky’s the limit indeed.

Legendary actor Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for his work in the "Star Trek" and "X-Men" franchises, has died at 86. His death followed "a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia," his spokesperson said. @vladduthiersCBS looks back at his life and career. cbsn.ws/4A5o6hq

“To explore new worlds and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before”とあります。

“Space, the final frontier… to boldly go where no one has gone before.”(宇宙、それは最後のフロンティア…

Thank you, NASA. You have the conn.
We mourn the passing of Patrick Stewart, who inspired countless individuals at NASA (and beyond) to boldly go where no one has gone before.
I couldn’t hold my tears after watching this video.
Well said, his loss was something beyond the words.
He will be missed forever.
