Most businesses don’t need more AI. They need less repetitive work.
Automate predictable workflows. That’s where AI creates real value.

Just wrapped up a website concept for Optimus Mortgages.
Now offering 3 businesses a free concept, a chance to see how I’d approach your brand and UI before you decide to Lockin
The concept is free. The actual website development is not. 😄

#AI has created a strange #engineering culture.
People are impressed by:
1. Long prompts
2. Huge context windows
3. Agent swarms
4. 50 tool integrations
I'm more impressed by:
1. Lower latency
2. Lower cost
3. Higher reliability
4. Better evaluation
5. Cleaner architecture
Complexity isn't #intelligence.
Stop trying to learn every new AI framework.
Instead, try to build.
Need RAG?
Build it.
Need an agent?
Build it.
Need evaluation?
Build it.
Need production deployment?
Build it.
You learn far more when you have to make the system actually work.
Tutorials teach concepts. Projects expose gaps.
Adding RAG doesn't automatically make an AI application intelligent.
If retrieval is bad, generation will be bad.
You need to think about:
1. Chunking
2. Embeddings
3. Retrieval strategy
4. Reranking
5. Metadata
6. Context limits
7. Evaluation
RAG is an information retrieval problem before it is an LLM problem.
AI engineering is moving beyond chatbots.
The interesting systems are becoming:
AI + workflows
AI + databases
AI + APIs
AI + business rules
AI + human decisions
AI + monitoring
The chatbot is just the interface.
The real product is the system behind it.
Hot take:
Most “AI agents” don't need to be agents.
If the workflow is predictable, deterministic code is often better.
Use an agent when the system genuinely needs:
• Planning
• Tool selection
• Dynamic reasoning
• Adaptation to unexpected situations
Don't add an agent because the word sounds impressive.
Use intelligence where intelligence is actually required.
