Insofar as I've stuck around here at all, it was motivated by the podcast: well, the darn podcast is over, so I've got no excuse.
Find me at the site below, or on my YT channel.

"What ensued was a months-long collaboration to turn the drastically underfunded 2021 Kino Lorber release of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly from a disaster-in-waiting to the best home video release of the film since the 1990s... The result was a release that—despite a highly compressed turnaround time, virtually nonexistent budget, and compromised source materials—was nonetheless a largely accurate approximation of the 1967 international cut of the film in reasonably high fidelity. At last."

The hackers are now debating whether or not I correctly used the term "remux." That's my street Oscar right there.
It's not often one gets the opportunity to make a pro-piracy case about film preservation, and yet here we are!
Thrilled this piece is out. Go read it.

Such a fantastic article by @SadHillDevan. This topic is very rarely if ever discussed and has become incredibly vital in film preservation. I was happy to be interviewed for it.

Regardless of what industry you work in, this article about film restoration/preservation is a wonderful trip through the power of fans, expertise, truth, detail... and (whisper it) piracy. Have also discovered that @ArrowFilmsVideo did a restoration of OG Mortal Kombat movies

"When an informal network of amateurs questions the work of industry standard-bearers, it is rarely a matter of raw technical superiority but rather a fundamental difference in constraints..."

[Spoiler alert: I think the incentives that guide the people perpetuating this discourse are at least as relevant as the discourse itself.]
Movies these days are dim, flat, dull. You know it, we know it, everyone seems to know it. But is it true? To sort through the wreckage of this discourse, today's @FilmFormally gets back to basics with a Willa-and-Devan-hash-it-out special.

NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0.
I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start.
It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people.
Barley Studios will be my new AI studio for creating my own films, the way Oats Studios was for traditional film and VFX. @Barleystudiosai
Full film in the reply.
