When every NFT attribute is publicly visible: Rare traits can be identified immediately. Hidden information becomes impossible to protect. Games and applications have limited ways to use private attributes. Privacy shouldn't have to disappear just because an asset lives on-chain. FungoLabs is exploring a different approach. 3/7 — FHE changes the equation The technology behind FungoLabs is Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), powered by @zama. Here's why it matters: Traditional smart contracts work with readable data. FHE allows smart contracts to perform computations on encrypted information without exposing the underlying values. In simple terms, information can remain encrypted while still being useful. That's a meaningful shift for on-chain applications. 4/7 — Meet the Encrypted NFTs FungoLabs is building what it describes as the first encrypted NFTs on Ethereum. Its Genesis NFTs introduce two distinct layers: → Look: The artwork can remain sealed until its holder chooses to publish it. → Essence: The NFT's class, stats and element remain encrypted on-chain. Even more interesting, the holder controls who gets to view the private information. The NFT isn't just something you own. It's something you have control over. 5/7 — Privacy with actual utility This is where the concept becomes particularly interesting. Imagine an NFT-based game where players have different hidden stats. If every attribute is public, strategic surprises become difficult. But with FHE, smart contracts can calculate outcomes using encrypted information without revealing the underlying stats. They're the ones questioning existing limitations and building something different.
