BREAKING: Saudi Arabia Executes Bangladeshi Newlyweds Over Forehead Kiss in Mecca Mosque
Two Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siri Akhtar, have reportedly been executed in Saudi Arabia following their conviction over an alleged immoral act inside a mosque in Mecca.
Reports circulating in Bangladesh claim the incident involved a kiss on the forehead between the newlyweds, who had travelled to Mecca for their honeymoon. The gesture was reportedly an expression of gratitude to Allah for their marriage.
Their bodies have reportedly been returned to Bangladesh in two coffins for burial

I had no intention of writing anything about the punishment of Bangladeshi nationals in Saudi Arabia because the Saudi government has not yet published any details about the case. However, I came across a statement written by a religious scholar, Abdul Razzaq Madani, a graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah who works at the Maktaba al-Jaliyat in Madinah. I found his statement to be credible, so I am sharing it here after translating it into English.
📌 “I had no intention of commenting on this filthy and shameful matter, but I am compelled to post in response to the spread of false and fabricated stories.
Two Bangladeshi nationals, Nazrul Islam and Sweety Akhtar, were employed by the Bin Laden Company as cleaning staff at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah al-Mukarramah. The woman lived in a villa in Batha Quraish, while the man lived in a villa in Hayy al-Iskan.
During their duty, they developed a romantic relationship and engaged in illicit acts in an isolated room built into the staircase between Gates 85 and 87 of Masjid al-Haram. Nazrul Islam asked an Indian friend of his to stand guard downstairs. That friend recorded the incident on video.
Later, when the Indian man expressed a desire to engage in similar acts with the woman but was unable to do so, or when one of the two refused to consent, he made the video public. Following this, the incident came to public attention.
Saudi authorities succeeded in arresting all three individuals. The Indian man was sentenced to 20 years in prison and is still incarcerated. The other two were also imprisoned.
Nazrul Islam arrived in Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh sometime between 10 and 13 November 2022. He committed this wrongful act in May 2023, after which Saudi authorities arrested him. He remained in prison from May 2023 until October 2026.
The legal proceedings in this case lasted approximately three and a half to four years. During this period, it is the Saudi government's responsibility to inform the sponsor (kafeel) and the company. It is not their responsibility to inform people in other countries.
Many people are claiming that the two had gone for Umrah and had merely kissed each other there. All these stories are completely false and fabricated.
It is true that both individuals were unmarried. But the question here is: Why were they sentenced to death despite being unmarried? Do you know why?
Because this is Masjid al-Haram. Here, the matter is not limited merely to the punishment for adultery; rather, the individual also violated the sanctity and honour of Masjid al-Haram.
For this reason, the senior judges of the Supreme Court considered it appropriate to impose the death penalty as a suitable punishment, and that was the sentence handed down. This punishment is in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah.
The most astonishing thing is that even today, we continue to spread lies about this matter shamelessly. Right-wing and left-wing atheists in Bangladesh are making these claims, and some people who advocate implementing Islamic law in Bangladesh are also opposing this verdict.
Therefore, if you come from a respectable family, stop supporting adultery, and advise this young man's parents to refrain from making shameless statements to the media.
May Allah Almighty guide everyone to the right path.
