It has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that a message is circulating on social media claiming that the standard Cheque Truncation System (CTS) cheque books currently in use will change from December 31, 2026 and the new cheque books featuring updated security standards will come into effect from January 1, 2027.   It is clarified that at present Reserve Bank of India is not introducing any such measures with regard to the CTS cheque books. As such, the message is factually incorrect and misleading.   Members of public are requested to rely only on the information published by RBI from time to time in such matters.

#BREAKING Supreme Court holds that the Municipal Commissioner of Greater Mumbai has committed contempt of two earlier orders concerning removal of encroachments from land earmarked for a BEST bus stand in Mumbai. CJI Surya Kant-led bench issues show cause notice to the Commissioner, asking why contempt action should not be taken against him. The Court dismisses the Commissioner's application seeking extension of time with costs of ₹5 lakh and directs that no salary be disbursed to the Commissioner or his staff until the show cause notice is decided. The bench takes serious exception to the explanation that municipal officers required Marathi documents to be translated into English before complying with its directions.
