Sam Awty

𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑 ✍🏽 The answer to a question that will long live in Horbury Town quizzes - the goalscorer of our first ever goal in semi professional football is back for his sixth season at the club. Awty has arguably played his best football for the club during this current pre season and couldn’t be coming into the season in better form. Someone who can play across the front three, a great player to have at your helm. Sam is sponsored by ‘Northern Sole Cafe’. A big thanks to Carl once again supporting the club. #ProudToBeTown

𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒 💯 Subject to making an appearance this Saturday, Sam Awty will have made the ‘100 Club’. Let’s hope that it’s a great occasion for our forward who has been with us since the moment we started this NCEL journey. Fun fact, Awty actually scored our first NCEL goal back in July 2022 in a 5-0 win against Ollerton Town. ⚽️

71’ | GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Awty equalises with an effort into the bottom corner. 2-2!

44’ | GOAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Ryan Makings smashes into the roof of the net after a great knock down from Awty. 2-0.

FT’ | UUUUUUUUUUUUREDS.

𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 Sam Awty is also eight away from 100, meaning two potential milestones for our final home game of the season. 10, 100+ appearances. 👏

82’ | GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Sam Awty gets Horbury’s fourth here. In dreamland. 0-4.

𝐀𝐰𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫. 🐨 The club are delighted to announce the return of Sam Awty after a short spell in Australia. Another player that needs no introduction to the club, with his electric pace and front foot football, he’s a real asset to have at the club. Both player and manager had the following words: 𝐃𝐁 “The club are delighted that Sam is returning from Australia and wants to be involved with the club again. Hopefully his injuries are behind him with him keeping himself fit whilst down under. He’ll be ready to get straight involved immediately when he returns which is a great option to have. We know his ability is there and we’re very excited for him to continue to improve as the club goes into a new era”. 𝐒𝐀 “I’m buzzing to be returning to the club when im back at the end of August. Ive had a great time in Australia but have definitely missed the club and can’t wait to get back playing. There is no other place I want to play my football and I have missed the club and people that make it such a positive atmosphere. The management & staff, the lads, supporters and community within make it a special place to be and one I want to be a part of again. We’ve already proven we can be competitive against teams at this level previously and having played at this level before, I believe the squad, with the additions the club has made, is more than good enough to compete. Ive been playing out here in Australia, I am sharp and injury free which hasnt been the case in the last few years so I’m looking forward to getting back and helping the club move forward”. Welcome back, Sam.

𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗔’𝗦, 𝗦𝗔𝗠 | 🦘🇦🇺 The club would like to wish Sam Awty “chooka’s” as he moves to Australia for a period of time to take up a work opportunity. Sam has had some great periods at the club during his three years here but has suffered with injury for large parts of those seasons and will definitely be missed. He’s down for his final game against Worsbrough Bridge so you can wish him well in person. Enjoy it mate.
