Samfree Sarante Posts Good Showing at Source Hoops Spring Tip-Off Samfree Sarante, a 6’3” combo guard for Miami Triple Threat, made a strong statement at the Source Hoops Spring Tip-Off, putting together a series of solid performances that highlighted his versatility and high basketball IQ. Known for impacting the game in multiple ways, Sarante used the opportunity to showcase the skills, poise, and court awareness that make him an intriguing prospect to watch. As a sophomore at Palmetto High School in Miami, Sarante averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game, consistently contributing across the board and demonstrating that he’s capable of producing in various situations. Offensive Versatility One of the standout aspects of Sarante’s game is his ability to thrive both on and off the ball. During the two games at the Source Hoops Spring Tip-Off, that offensive versatility truly set him apart from other players. As a primary ball handler, he showed good poise and timing—getting into the paint to create for himself or finding teammates for open looks. He understands how to use angles and tempo to keep defenders off balance. He also showed the ability to shoot off the dribble, keeping defenders honest and creating scoring opportunities in isolation. His comfort pulling up in rhythm adds another layer to his offensive game. His ability to play off pivots also stood out. Sarante uses his footwork and body control to create separation in tight spaces, maintaining composure while finding ways to either finish through contact or kick the ball out to shooters. This kind of patience and craft is something that sets him apart from other players during the two games. Off the ball, he spotted up effectively, knocking down catch-and-shoot opportunities and staying ready within the flow of the offense. He doesn’t force the action, and his understanding of spacing and timing allowed him to make an impact without needing the ball in his hands on every possession. Size and Defensive Tools At 6’3”, Sarante brings solid positional size for a guard. He uses that frame well on both ends of the floor, particularly when navigating screens or playing in help-side situations. While not flashy, his defensive awareness stood out—especially in how he positioned himself to disrupt passing lanes and rotate as a secondary defender. Sarante showed the ability to stay in front of his man, keep his feet moving, and anticipate plays before they developed. His approach on defense—focused and alert—contributed to his overall impact, especially in moments where momentum could swing either way. Basketball IQ & Poise What continues to define Sarante’s game is his basketball IQ. He plays with maturity, rarely getting sped up or out of control. Whether it’s making a skip pass out of a drive, reading a mismatch, or recognizing when to push versus slow down the tempo, Sarante consistently makes the right reads. His poise, patience, and feel for the game make him a player you trust with the ball in critical moments. He doesn’t rely on athleticism alone—he processes the game at a high level, and that’s something coaches always value. Looking Ahead As the grassroots season continues, Samfree Sarante will be a name to keep on radars. With his size, balanced offensive game, defensive awareness, and IQ, he’s positioned himself as a reliable, two-way contributor. Whether he's running the show or playing off the ball, Sarante brings a well-rounded presence that can fit into multiple systems. His performance at the Source Hoops Spring Tip-Off was a good showing—one that confirmed his development and hinted at even more to come. @samsarante @Palmetto_Hoops @MIATripleThreat
