the online leftist impulse to blame everything on “evil corporations” is honestly beyond parody
your boomer neighbors that show up at community meetings to complain shadows and parking are the reason we have a housing crisis, not some evil corporation

Victoria City Council approved an innovative car-free building tonight! 633 Belton is a car-free 6-plex that will replace a single home. This is exactly the type of sustainable & affordable density we need. This is the model, let’s do more. #yyj urbanthrive.ca/633belton

10 things I wish I knew about nuclear power when I was a Green Party member/anti-nuclear advocate.
1. Nuclear power has reduced global emissions by 60 gigatons of CO2 until 2019 (equivalent to 2 years of global energy-related emissions).

When asked to draw their trip to school, children who walk to school drew a more vibrant picture than those driven in a car. Every student should have the option to walk or bike to school in a safe manner, full stop. (via Margrit Stamm)

there are good arguments you can make in favor of remote work but it's just so sad that so many people immediately fall to back to "traffic" as if that's some sort of immovable force and not a deliberate decision in how we design cities that has repeatedly been shown not to work – at Boston, MA

West Coast Express missing here entirely? Also wonder how many of the bus trips are just the 99 B

Another way to look at the data is to normalize it by metro area population. This draws out the high performers. Size helps, but there’s a level the playing field for purposes of comparison. Two tiers emerge: NY and the three big Canadian cities, and the other US transit cities.

It is just insane that we have invented what is essentially a medical cure for obesity and yet refuse to pay for it because of moralizing stigma about weight loss – at San Francisco, CA
pretty damning indictment of the @MBTA that I live <10min walk from a subway line that goes to the airport and I, a devout transit nerd, still take Uber/Lyft when I'm in a rush because it's almost always faster
still a little skeptical that mastodon will work out but it’s getting a lot harder to keep supporting twitter. Find me here - macaw.social/@sam
Journalists who cover Elon Musk have been suspended on Twitter tonight: @Donie O'Sullivan from CNN, Aaron Rupar and the Washington Post's @drewharwell.
Rupar tells me he has "no idea" why it happened.
