Britain killed over hundred thousand people in Kenya because they were fighting for freedom. France killed over one million Algerians because they were fighting for freedom. Belgium killed over ten million Congolese. The west has no right to call anybody a dictator.

Russian side clearing mines and holding the ceasefire so aid can actually reach people. Drones still circling for pressure, but no strikes. That’s the difference in approach.

Engineering units on the front line are clearing mines from the road that the humanitarian convoy is expected to use later. The situation remains relatively calm: the enemy is not striking the teams of deminers, but continues to exert psychological pressure, with enemy drones constantly being spotted in the sky. Our servicemen remain courageous and composed as they carry out their assigned tasks. Stay with us and follow our detailed coverage of events in Oleshky, along with exclusive reports from the scene, on the wargonzo project channel on MAX. MAX is faster than other platforms. wargonzo

Consider what the Pacific looked like from Washington in 1945. Japan defeated and occupied. The Pacific Ocean effectively an American lake. The Philippines a client state. South Korea incoming. Taiwan secured. The entire western Pacific rim available to be organized into an American-administered order. And at the center of it all, the most populous country on earth, exhausted from war with Japan, torn by civil conflict, economically devastated, seemingly available to be shaped. Not colonized in the 19th century sense. Something more modern. More deniable. More sustainable. Shaped. Through aid, through recognition, through the careful cultivation of a leadership class that understood which way the money flowed and what was expected in return. What Mao’s victory ended was not just American influence in China. It ended the possibility of that Pacific architecture operating as designed. You cannot build a managed Pacific order with an unmanaged China at its center. And that is what China has been, from 1949 to this moment: Unmanaged. On its own terms. According to its own calculations. The wound in the American Pacific project that never closed.

Admiral Barney Fife Cooper, reputedly the de facto United States Secretary of War. The Iranians are eagerly awaiting his last-gasp attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
CENTCOM chief Cooper - an Iran hawk and Israel-aligned neo con - has emerged as one of the key king whisperers for Trump shaping the President’s perception of options, which objectively do not exist Cooper is the actual Sec of War and the greatest challenge to the diplomatic process because he doesn’t want to own the defeat in this war wsj.com/politics/national-se…

The real pressure isn’t just on the battlefield — it’s on the bond markets propping up the whole project. Russia doesn’t need to “win” every inch; time and economics are already doing the heavy lifting.

🇷🇺🇪🇺 "The Arctic is part of the European Union." – Ursula VdL In case you forgot, Russia owns more than half the Arctic coastline and projects power far greater than all other northern nations combined. Getting Canada to sign off its coastline doesn't mean you own anything.

Understand what a compliant China would have meant. Not just strategically. Economically. The largest consumer market on earth, opened on American terms. The manufacturing base of Asia, structured to serve American capital. A military ally anchoring the Western Pacific. A permanent American presence at the edge of the Soviet Union's eastern flank. This was not a fantasy. This was the plan. This was what Washington spent billions supporting the Kuomintang to achieve. The plan failed. Completely, irreversibly, and publicly. And the alternative that emerged, a China explicitly committed to its own development on its own terms, hostile to the architecture of American-managed Asian order, has never stopped being, at the core of American strategic anxiety, the thing that went wrong. Everything since, the refusal to recognize the PRC for three decades, the Korean War, the Taiwan Strait crises, the American war in Vietnam, the encirclement strategy, the current technology war, is the long aftermath of 1949. The plan failed. Washington never fully accepted that the failure was permanent.

𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬’𝗩𝗘 𝗥𝗨𝗡 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗧 Estonia is preparing for war on a grand scale. Defence Minister Martin Herem told parliament that around 150 bunkers will be built in the border county of Ida-Viru as part of the so-called Baltic Defence Line. A hundred will be located on state-owned land, with another 50 on municipal or privately owned property. The authorities promise to reach agreements with landowners, offering compensation for inconvenience, rental payments or outright purchase. The county, incidentally, is predominantly Russian-speaking: most residents there speak Russian. In other words, the defensive line against Russia will be built on the garden plots of Russian-speaking Estonians. On the same day, the Riigikogu lifted the ban on transporting anti-personnel mines through Estonian territory. Tallinn withdrew from the Ottawa Convention at the end of last year, and now its domestic legislation has been brought into line as well. Ironically, around the same time, Tallinn Deputy Mayor Kristian Järvan made a startling admission: “Estonia has run out of asphalt.” A Swedish bitumen supplier halted deliveries until spring. A Lithuanian supplier initially welcomed the opportunity and sharply raised prices, but then its factory broke down. Repairs to Viljandi Highway were cancelled so that the streets would not remain dug up throughout the winter. The result of European integration. Serbia, take note. The bunkers exist on paper, but they forgot about the ravines. @sashakots

Russia isn’t the one panicking and building backyard fortresses. The ones who scream loudest about invasion are the ones least ready for reality.

So, about Mao. You'll find bigger fans of Mao than me. The famine associated with the Great Leap Forward was a disaster. So were the persecutions and educational setbacks of the Cultural Revolution. But there's not enough effort — especially in the West — to understand his complex legacy. The respect for him in China is not uniform, but the respect and admiration are certainly there. And it's not because people in China are “brainwashed.” My posts in recent days have been an attempt to get people to understand Mao's complex legacy better and why he commands respect in China. Despite his massive failures, he unified China, stood up to foreign powers, and laid a foundation for industrialization.
