A corrupção começa pela linguagem
Inflação vem do latim inflare, soprar pra dentro. Pra algo inflar, alguém tem que soprar.
Quando a palavra entrou na economia, queria dizer exatamente isso. No Webster de 1864, o item 4 do verbete diz “expansão ou aumento indevido, por excesso de emissão. Diz-se da moeda.”
Repara que não tem preço nenhum ali. Inflação era moeda emitida demais.
No século 20 a palavra foi escorregando da causa pro efeito. Hoje chamam de inflação o preço subindo, e quem soprou sumiu da definição.
Dinheiro novo dilui todo mundo que guardou o antigo. Quem recebe primeiro compra antes dos preços subirem, e quem recebe por último paga a conta. Cantillon já descrevia isso no século 18.
Faz quase 100 anos que culpam o preço pelo que a impressora fez.

When Obama won in 2012, they celebrated his shrewd use of Facebook, voter data and microtargeting. When Brexit happened and Trump won in 2016, we got the Cambridge Analytica moral panic.
