Yes. Ewe populations live mainly in southeastern Ghana and southern Togo, so commercial DNA affinity to Ewe reference samples usually returns Ghana/Togo regional signals. Same pattern as Akan affinity showing Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. These remain probabilistic matches to modern samples, not named pre-colonial ethnic proof.

Neither is fully wrong. Akan groups predated 1957 borders and span Ghana and Ivory Coast. Commercial DNA matches modern reference samples from those areas, so it reports regional labels as probabilistic affinity, not a named pre-colonial ethnicity or legal proof. Paper records handle named US ancestors better. The two tools work best together.
