Vahid Baniamerian and Abolhassan Montazer were executed by the brutal regime in Iran this morning.
In just over a week, the authorities have put at least seven political prisoners to death. Among them are Pouya Ghobadi, Babak Alipour, Mohammad Taghavi, and Akbar Daneshvarkar, all linked to the opposition group PMOI/MEK, as well as Amirhossein Hatami, a protester arrested after the January 8–9 uprising.
This wave of executions in Iran is a campaign of terror. The regime is using the death penalties to crush dissent, silence opposition, and spread fear across society. #StopExecutionsInIran

A few months ago, on Yalda Night, the longest night of the year, Vahid Baniamerian’s father wished for the release of his son. Together with Vahid’s mother and the families of several other political prisoners, he had participated in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign for more than 60 weeks, calling on the authorities to stop the executions. This morning, Vahid was executed.
Vahid was an outstanding graduate who held a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Khajeh Nasir University and an MSc in MBA. He also taught physics to high-school students preparing for their university entrance exams.
In a statement issued in September 2025, Dr. Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, stated that Vahid Baniamerian, along with his co-defendants Pouya Ghobadi, Babak Alipour, Abolhassan Montazer, Mohammad Taghavi, and Akbar Daneshvarkar, had been sentenced to death for their alleged connections with the opposition group PMOI/MEK.
She highlighted that these political prisoners had been subjected to prolonged incommunicado detention, solitary confinement, multiple forms of physical and psychological torture, ill-treatment, and threats during detention.

حامد بنی‌عامریان، برادر #وحید_بنی_عامریان گفته که «دیوان عالی کشور ایراداتی به حکم و پرونده گرفت و آن را برای رفع ایرادات به دادگاه بدوی بازگرداند؛ اما ناگهان با خبر اعدام چهار هم‌پرونده‌ای برادرم مواجه شدیم.»

پویا قبادی و بابک علیپور سه‌شنبه صبح در زندان قزلحصار اعدام شدند. اکنون دو نفر از همبندیانشان، وحید بنی‌عامریان و ابوالحسن منتظر، در خطر اعدام هستند.

پویا تو زندان برام مثل یه برادر بزرگ‌تر بود، در هر زمینه‌ای واسش مقدور بود بهم کمک میکرد .

اولیویه گروندو، شهروند فرانسوی که ۹۰۰ روز در ایران زندانی بوده، با انتشار ویدیویی به نگرانی‌ها درباره خطر اجرای حکم اعدام وحید بنی‌عامریان واکنش نشان داده است.
او با اشاره به آشنایی خود با آقای بنی‌عامریان در زندان، او را «دوست» خود خوانده و می‌گوید: «وحید دوست منه، هم وطن نیستیم، همکار نیستیم، چشم‌انداز سیاسی ما متفاوت است ولی دوست منه، خیلی بچه با ادب، با عقل، شجاعی است.» و خطاب به جمهوری اسلامی می‌گوید: «ما از دوست‌هایی که در شکنجه‌گاه شناختیم هرگز خسته نمی‌شویم. از دوست‌هایی که در زندان شناختیم هرگز خسته نمی‌شیم.»
وحید بنی‌عامریان، زندانی سیاسی ۳۲ ساله، در دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۲ در تهران بازداشت و به بند ۲۰۹ زندان اوین منتقل شد.
او سپس در دادگاه انقلاب تهران به اتهام «بغی» و همکاری با سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران از سوی قاضی ایمان افشاری به اعدام محکوم شد.
بعد از اعدام بابک علیپور و پویا قبادی، اکبر دانشورکار و محمد تقوی‌سنگ‌دهی در دو روز گذشته، سازمان‌های حقوق بشری نسبت به خطر اجرای قریب‌الوقوع حکم اعدام او و ابوالحسن منتظر هشدار داده‌اند.

Dr Mai Sato has again raised her concerns today regarding the risk of execution of Vahid Baniamerian and Abolhassan Montazer. She has called on the authorities to “immediately halt all executions during this extremely difficult period and allow families access to those who are detained.”
The UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran highlighted that the ongoing internet shutdown is making independent monitoring extremely difficult, while she has continued to receive information that others may also be at risk of execution.

Following the secret hangings of their four co-defendants, authorities have refused to disclose the prisoners’ whereabouts or return the bodies of those executed to the families.
IHRNGO calls for urgent international action to save the lives of Vahid Baniamerian and Abolhassan Montazer, and for the remains of the executed political prisoners to be returned to their families.
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, director of the organisation said: “Holding prisoners incommunicado at undisclosed locations, secret executions and the withholding of bodies, amounts to enforced disappearance and constitutes a serious breach of fundamental human rights.” He added: “The war must not overshadow the Islamic Republic’s atrocities against its own people. Vahid Baniamerian and Abolhassan Montazer are at imminent risk of execution. The world must act now to save them.”
