I’m so annoyed that one of the AI “tells” is listen 3 things. Idk about yall but I was taught in school that when you list things, you shouldn’t go past 3. If you go past 3, you should just start a new sentence or use semicolons 😭
finishing up my master’s application and I can’t shake the feeling that my personal statement just sounds like “look at how cool and smart I am, and look at how cool your institution is. Wouldn’t it be crazy if we kissed” 😭😭

I get so annoyed by posts like this.
People get sick. People get pregnant. Life happens. Unexpected things happen. And what exactly is the alternative? That people should just end up on the street because life didn’t go according to plan?
It’s genuinely wild to me that this is even a debate.
You can say whatever you want about Europe, and people certainly love to talk about our taxes. But you know what? Our schools are free. Healthcare is free or affordable. Universities are free or heavily subsidized. Childcare is affordable. And if you lose your job or get sick, there’s a system in place to help you get back on your feet.
That’s the whole point. We have a social safety net because we understand that life doesn’t always go as planned.
And I genuinely believe that having that protection should be a basic human right, not a privilege.
Now, if you want to talk about how Europe can make it easier for startups to grow, attract investment, or build successful companies, I’m all for that conversation. There’s plenty we can improve.
But please, let’s stop acting like our social welfare system is the problem.
It’s one of the things we should be most proud of.
European hiring rules are genuinely insane.
For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years.
If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!

I will never understand how so many of y’all were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money you pay in taxes to create a social safety net that benefits you, fund public healthcare, lower housing costs, and make daily life more affordable.
See, Americans are great because they assume everyone else is as lie cheat and steal as they are

Wow sounds amazing. More people should immigrate to Europe. Just get Hired and take sick leave for two years whilst the government pays for it!
Because this is how censorship works, they ban the “bad” things first and then slowly but surely group everything into that category. Once one “bad” is gone, another is chosen otherwise there is no “good” and what is “good” has to continuously change otherwise there is no “bad”

the worst part abt all this is it’s included in the sections that ban child/incest play stuff like… in what world is this comparable
Started with porn, they’ve expanded it to social media and soon it’ll be traditional media. Soon it’ll be the horror genre guys I’m telling you!
These laws literally saved my family when my mom was medically unwell to work for 2 years. Sorry that some countries actually “care” about their workforce and aren’t itching to ditch someone the second they can

I’ve BEEN saying that part of the literacy decline as well as aversion to anything that “feels gross/wrong” started by calling it a “for you page” because it makes people genuinely believe that any piece of content is made for them, as an individual, specifically.
