Had to quit magnesium unfortunately. Sleep quality was great but the dreams are too intense. A man can be reunited with his dead dog for only so many nights in a row.

Revolution has never been this anti-revolutionary. When you claim to oppose the system while demanding more state and more of the very order you pretend to reject.

Nobody who’s heard my cricket takes over the years would be unaware that I have always believed in Shaddy. Sad that he will never reach his potential (none of these guys will) but still a cracking cricketer.

First time I saw Shaddy was when he played for Pindi in the old National T20. He was batting at 4 and also his team’s frontline spinner aged 18.

Also I’m saying all this but haven’t seen a single ball of this match because for the first time in decade I have gone a whole year without a cricket subscription 😭

Been sad to fall out of love with the great Andy Mitten. It’s beyond obvious that he’s on INEOS payroll, or at the very least doesn’t want to offend them. Maybe he’s finally called out INEOS recently, but I wouldn’t know since his constant apologism made me stop following TOTD.

Just heard the editor-in-chief of The Economist, Zanny Minton Beddoes, also misuse the phrase “this begs the question.” It has never been more over for language.

Jawab-e-Shikwa — Iqbal I wonder what Iqbal would be writing if he were alive today. 💔

Americans get accused a lot of overestimating their importance in world affairs but the truth is that the world also loves to overestimate American importance in their local affairs.
Trump’s ambassador to Turkey repeats the conspiracy theory that the US “took out the Shah” and installed Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979. After saying this, he pauses awkwardly before continuing.

In 2006, a man set himself on fire and subsequently died to protest actor Aamir Khan’s comments against then chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. The comments in question were about Modi’s handling of a river dam.

Any 2nd generation South Asian American of any religion who still wants to support the Republican Party because of “conservative values” is a turkey voting for Christmas. You will learn from first principles why your personally conservative parents stayed away from them.
If Vivek Ramaswamy tried this, his "base" will slow roast him over coals before feeding him to cannibals. Mamdani's base doesn't care - it's a large, inclusive tent. Which is why a Mamdani is a FAR better ally of American Hindus than a Ramaswamy.

The world’s tallest dwarf
Level 4 (1M–10M) really is the no-man's-land of wealth. For example, going from $100k to $300k can change your life. You can quit a job, move somewhere else, or take a chance on something of your own. Going from $5M to $5.2M? You're richer, but you don't notice the increase anymore in the same way. This is where the diminishing returns start to show. Back in 2021, when I went from $500k to $1m, I felt like on top of the world. It was a big change for me. A little backstory: in Feb 2021, I quit my 9-5 job with $500k NW, and it felt like a huge achievement. I knew it wasn’t enough to live off forever, but it was enough to dare to bet on myself. During the years after 21’ there have been periods where my NW has increased a lot, and periods where it went a bit down or barely went up at all. So I can very much relate to what Nick says: at some point, you could “work” twice as hard and barely notice the difference in your life. Your portfolio grows. But the extra money buys you less, while the time it costs you stays the same. This is where I think a lot of people in crypto get stuck. You know how to make money. But unless you increase the risk, your NW will only go up linearly. Because you might have to risk money you no longer want to lose. So you end up in the middle, the 7-figure hell (no man's land). Imagine spending another year glued to crypto to make an extra $200k on a $5M portfolio (4% increase). Don’t misunderstand me, that’s a lot of money, but many people don’t want to risk the big gains they’ve already earned, and since they don’t, their NW will barely move, and they’re forever trapped in the 7-fig hell.

To expand on this further: Ajami Muslims are very responsive to anti-Ajami racism from the Arabs, and they usually respond by doubling down on their piety and Muslim identity. The first example of this was with Abbasid Revolution of 750. A more controversial position is that the first example of militant egalitarianism in Islamdom actually began with the Kharijiite treason of Ali bin Abu Talib. There is no oppressor (Umayyad, Ottoman, Turkic, or Najdi) that cannot be overcome with piety. This is a feature, not a bug. The religion is designed in a way to absorb every racial group in the world in a way where they can claim ownership over a faith that is, essentially, a universalist belief structure born in the Arabian desert. Like how Christianity has survived the Levant being a mostly Muslim land, Islam would survive in a world where something similar to happened to the Hejaz. 20th century concepts like anti-racism are also extremely easy to co-opt by both Islam (as well as Islamism).
There is a reverse shahada for subcon Muslims blackpilled by Arab racism. It’s called the Shahada.

Old Pakistani communist joke about a Soviet intelligence cable from the ‘60s where the KGB spy posted in Pakistan is annoyed by the fact that the secret Pakistan Communist Party members keep going to the mosque for jumaah.
Pakistani communists are quite hilarious, fighting capitalism in a country with no capital.

They should come up with a reverse shahada for subcontinental Muslims who are blackpilled by Saudi/Arab hypocrisy/racism. Following a foreign origin religious tradition (Christianity included) has pitfalls like this

I do not say this facetiously. When confronted with Arab racism, South Asians Muslims become more pious, not less.
