Really sad and shocked to hear about the death of Emily Morgan Emily visited @UHD_NHS @uhdcriticalcare several times during the pandemic. She was an impressive journalist and really nice person to meet and talk to. What a loss and such sadness. Our thoughts are with her family.

As we look to catch up on surgical backlogs using all facilities possible attention to pre-op assessment, communication of risk & the management of unexpected complications will be essential.

"Sometimes, the smallest things take up the most room in your heart." A little gesture like this can mean the world to those in need of comfort during dark times. Thank you to our wonderful ICU team for going that extra mile 💙
My friend's father is in intensive care and @UHD_NHS gave her this. I won't lie: I sobbed.

The United Kingdom has been a guiding light for the pandemic: 1. @CovidGenomicsUK sequenced >206,000 #SARSCoV2 genomes, ~50% of all 2. The large #RECOVERY trials provided pivotal data for dexamethasone, HCQ, convalescent plasma, more 3. @ICNARC is an exemplary national dashboard

New RECOVERY result. In patients hospitalised with COVID-19, azithromycin did not provide any clinical benefit. 28 day mortality (19% vs 19%) (rate ratio 1·00; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0·90-1·12; p=0·99). No effect on secondary outcomes either. medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
