I'm sad to see my favorite tech conference come to an end. I'm very grateful to have had the chance to attend and speak at @LISAConference . Thanks to everyone who helped organize it over the last 35 years! Hope I can attend an in-person @SREcon in 2022.
I'm hiring two SREs, and @mozilla also has SRE Director and Operations Security Manager roles open. Remote in US or Canada. See careers.mozilla.org/listings… and DM me with any questions.
Mozilla is hiring for a Director of Site Reliability Engineering. This is a new position overseeing the team I'm on and 2 other teams in a recently-consolidated SRE org. It's fully remote. I'm happy to answer any questions I can, just DM me!

I've seen a lot of ill-informed takes on what's happening at Mozilla. This isn't one: civilityandtruth.com/2020/08…

Hi friends, Firefox Developer Tools will not be going away. We will be a smaller team and will share more details later when we have them. —@violasong

MDN as a website isn't going anywhere right now. The team is smaller, but the site exists and isn't going away. We will be working with partners and community members to find the right ways to move it forward given our new structure at Mozilla.

Have all of the folks I worked with at Mozilla and Pocket on my mind today.
Heartbreaking news that they are laying off about 25% of the company 😔 blog.mozilla.org/blog/2020/0…
Some wonderful, talented, passionate folks there. If you are hiring, keep an eye on #MozillaLifeboat.

Starting the day with the devastating news that Mozilla is laying off 250 people, about a quarter of the company. blog.mozilla.org/blog/2020/0… There are so many great people there, especially the browser engineers who invented much of the web… this is going to be painful. ❤️😩
The team I'm on at @mozilla is looking to hire more operations engineers. We run the many backend services that @firefox users and developers rely on. Join us! Both jobs are remote.

The talk I gave this morning at #PyTN2019 is one I've given before at NSS, so the full text is online. It's about engineering software safety and quality. github.com/jorendorff/talks/…

Over the last year or so I've written my first book, An Elegant Puzzle, which is my attempt to share what I've learned about engineering management.

Two of our upcoming books are, at their hearts, about bringing people together and helping them thrive. An Elegant Puzzle (spring ‘19) focuses on engineering management & Get Together (summer ‘19) focuses on cultivating passionate communities. Learn more: press.stripe.com/
