What better way to introduce ourselves than through this brilliant explanation of what we're building from @IanRountree. Ian and @cantos wrote Arbor's first check and have been backing us ever since. Grateful for our supporters and excited for the big announcements to come! 🚀
Is Arbor Energy the key to power AND water for data centers? They just cracked the code to supercritical CO2 turbines, which have been something of a holy grail in power generation, especially in Arbor's case, because: 1. Using sCO2 as a working fluid can achieve energy efficiency rivaling large combined cycle gas plants in a much smaller footprint––e.g. behind the meter at data centers. No one had pulled it off though because it requires engineering a system capable of withstanding immense pressure, temperature, speed, and corrosion. Until now! 2. Combining this with oxycombustion of natural gas (CH4) means the outputs are only CO2 (used, recycled, and/or sequestered) and water. Arbor's power modules will PRODUCE tons of water while powering data centers... a MILLION gallons per megawatt, to be exact. So not only will their 25MW Halcyon system power data centers, it can ELIMINATE their water burden and even produce surplus water for local communities! 3. The key components can be 3D PRINTED! You've surely heard of the bottleneck in gas turbines, which is primarily due to the way in which combined cycle turbine blades must be produced (single-crystal casting). I'm extremely proud that @cantos was Arbor's very first investor and has invested in every round since then. Watch this company!

It’s not every day that someone turns on a new form of power. Let alone clean power. Let alone a mile under the ocean. And that someone is a startup that hasn’t hit its second birthday yet. Way to go @endurancegeo !
Endurance is on a historic run. During our mission to the Axial Seamount, we successfully drilled the world’s first subsea geothermal well and generated net-positive power a mile beneath the Pacific. This mission was the first end-to-end test of subsea geothermal, and our fifth deep-sea deployment in just over a year. For three weeks, we worked around the clock over an active underwater volcano, running the drill and generator and handling every deployment and recovery. Along the way, we: - Landed our drill within feet of target, drilled two holes, and cased and completed the second as a geothermal well, flowing at 260°C. - Landed Adélie, our 3-ton test plant, and ran it in real time from Seattle over subsea fiber. - Drilled with filtered seawater, not drilling mud, and monitored the site on every dive. - Recovered, serviced, and redeployed Adélie in about 16 hours. - And on Sept. 27, connected to a 281°C natural vent, spun the turbine up to 26,000 rpm and ran the plant net positive for 8.7 seconds, peaking at 16.5 kW. Net power is the threshold every new energy source has to cross. For Endurance, it proves subsea geothermal is real, and gives us the confidence to keep sprinting towards commercial scale. With a test like this, success comes from what we learn: a battery protection trip ended the run, a pump cable failed on restart, and the new well was too restrictive to run the plant. Those lessons go straight into Gentoo, our next test plant, this winter and Leopard, our 2 MW commercial generator. We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. It took creativity, precision, an uncompromising focus on safety from everyone on board, and it’s only the beginning of what we’re capable of. We couldn’t have done it without Stabbert Maritime and the crew of the Ocean Guardian, the ROPOS team, the University of Washington, WASSOC, and the National Science Foundation.

Today, we’re announcing Voyager’s $275M Fund II. We launched Voyager in 2021 with a clear conviction that the next era of progress will be built on foundational technologies: electrification, advanced manufacturing, and AI that optimizes the physical world. Now more than ever, that conviction is being validated, and the opportunity to build a world of abundance has never been more clear. A generation of brilliant founders - engineers, scientists, biologists, chemists - is leading the way, reinventing how the world makes and uses energy, materials, and machines. At Voyager, accelerating the success of those founders is our lives’ work. We are former founders ourselves - and engineers, scientists, and operators. We look to partner with founders whose vision and persistence redefines what’s possible. We are grateful to our LPs for their ongoing support and to the extraordinary founders with whom we are fortunate to work. Onwards. @sclarsic, @sierrap, and the @VoyagerVC team

Announcing @VoyagerVC’s $100M Select I opportunity fund. We’re doubling down on supporting the climate tech companies that are building a sustainable future for us all.
We’re thrilled to announce Voyager Select I, our $100M opportunity fund. We’re as high conviction as it gets that the most important - and valuable - companies created this century will be those building the foundations of a decarbonized global economy, from energy to transportation to finance. These are massive global markets. With Voyager Select I, we're looking forward to doubling down on climate tech companies - software and hardware alike - poised for scale. An enormous thank you, as always, to the company founders and builders creating a sustainable world for us all. It is a privilege to support you on your journeys. We are grateful to Voyager's terrific LPs, and proud to welcome Novo Holdings and Northwestern University to the Voyager community. Thank you to @BusinessInsider for covering our Select I announcement. businessinsider.com/climate-…
