Finished Aki I'm not a mahjong knower, so maybe there's something I'm missing from that aspect of the story, but the actual writing here was a disjointed mess for a "biographical" work. Just horrifically structured and conceived. 35/100.

Reading When a Divorced Single Mother Met Her Love Swamp Surprisingly charming family story, interspersed occasionally glimpses, noncommittal, of some toxic yan messiness. Structurally sound, but prone to flat art and construction. Fun, though. 64/100

outlaying a theme being conveyed in a work doesn't make the work better, it just confirms the presence of the theme in the work. if the presentation and the execution is poor, it's just an interesting theme being communicated in a badly written way.

even the most mediocre work in the world can have interesting themes. even the bottom of the trash pile. it doesn't make them worthy or "good", it just confirms that they're a piece of art trying to present ideas.
