For the past three days, I've been feeling helpless, uneasy and kind of depressed. Struggling to process everything that has happened in #Nepal... The flood hasn't affected the #Madhesh province I come from and my family is safe, but the catastrophic disaster it has brought in the affected districts is beyond imagination — 600+ innocents have lost their lives (and it's only increasing each passing hour), 2000+ are still missing, thousands are homeless now, losing their life-long earnings; villages, homes, bridges, roads and all the infrastructures have been wiped out... An entire generation has been pushed into the uncertainty of livelihood, all of a sudden. It's extremely heart wrenching to see my country suffering. The devastating 2015 earthquake almost broke the country and it took years to rebuild the nation... Only when things were progressing positively on every front — we got a stable, young government who actually cares about people; financial situation was optimistic, tourism was rapidly booming, factories that were closed for years and decades were finally being restarted, domestic productions were being prioritized to reduce the dependence on India & China, ambitious and advanced infrastructural projects were planned — this new disaster has again brought #Nepal to where it will have to REBUILD again, from the ground, costing many more years just to get where we were just three days ago.. The scale of this disaster will be felt for years! Climate Change/Global Warming is a harsh reality and #Nepal has been very careful about it from the beginning. It contributes negligible (0.1%) greenhouse gas emissions, yet bears the brutal brunt of a climate crisis it did not create.. And it's not gonna stop. As long as big and rich countries will play with nature in the name of development and power, we will continue dying, for the fault of others! Disasters like this changes you within — your faith towards God changes, hope turns into despair, your worldview changes. I'm just hoping the families who have lost their loved ones and their homes are taken care of by the government — Give them food, protection, financial assistance and everything to restore their hope to live again! I express my sympathy to displaced survivors and everyone whose lives were upended in minutes.. Condolences to the family members who lost their dear ones. And praying for the safety of those still missing... #Nepal has always overcome devastating disasters and this time too, WE WILL RISE AGAIN, STRONGER THAN EVER! #PrayForNepal
