The dream...
Proof of concept for full CMYK mode after GIMP 3.0, inspired by a conversation with @zemarmot. **Very** buggy at the moment, but at least I have a better understanding of how to implement it when the time comes.
This is not a very active communication channel. Would you like us to be not very active in two places rather than one? :)
Welcome to the CMYK world, GIMP :)
New development version of GIMP is now available featuring initial CMYK support, on-canvas brush sizing, customizable on-canvas modifiers, various file formats support improvements, and much more

It's healthy to familiarize yourself with individuals who exist outside your comfort zone and norms.
It can be challenging, inspiring, or sometimes just validating.
So when you meet someone who prefers a light color theme in their IDE - study them, ask why 😂
We support IDML. There's only some initial clean room reverse engineering work done on .indd by a fellow team, there is no code to import .indd in any real free/libre software yet
We've moved 1.5.x development to a dedicated branch where it will be completed to become stable v1.6 release. Trunk in SVN is now open for 1.7.x development where we plan to move to Qt 6.2+, this will result in having native M1 builds for macOS
Either way, you need a dark theme installed separately as Scribus doesn't have a dark theme of its own. You might have luck with newer versions of Windows and macOS that have this feature, in that case, please let us know
You need to either choose a system-wide dark system for this to work (easy on Linux with either KDE or Qt configuration application) or do it for Scribus specifically (File > Preferences > User Interface > Main Window >Theme) [1/2]
Scribus 1.5.8 is out with many improvements: better file importing (IDML, PDF, PNG, TIFF, SVG), better PDF exporting, better tables editing, and more

I’ve designed every single cover for this press on @scribus, an open-source page layout program. Not always easy but always free, which is essential for our press since we don’t have the cash for InDesign or Photoshop. So I guess this is just a thank you to the folks there. - NR
