Here is the problem with AI Design - Good design is about knowing why things work together and knowing when you can get away with "breaking" the rules. To communicate emotion. Ultimately good design is cooking to taste not building to spec. Right now, there is a sea of AI skills that can help you avoid one version of AI slop, but in 3 months' time those rules will also be considered AI slop.

Hyatt is a good dude but his problems. Illuminates the ragged in ragged edge ai. These are not companies that we can rely on they are concepts let loose in the world.
I'm a Grok @Bot fan. I also can't keep paying for it like this. Since August, I've gone all in. I built a team of 24 bots to run my business, and I've told everyone who would listen: newsletter subscribers, conference audiences, podcast hosts, and my mastermind members. Then something changed. No announcement. No explanation. Suddenly, the same work cost far more than it used to. This week I hit my weekly usage limit after just five days. That's never happened before. When it happens, Grok Bot keeps running on paid credits. On top of my $200 monthly subscription, I've spent more than $272 on extra usage. It's November 3. Here's what scares me. Under the new limits, I'm burning about $14 an hour. At 10 hours a day, that's $140 a day, or roughly $4,200 a month, plus the subscription. So I did what users do. I went looking for fixes. 1. Pause the routines. I paused 19 scheduled tasks this morning. It barely helped. Spending kept climbing. 2. Duplicate long-running bots. Others recommend copying a bot to start its conversation fresh. But the copy loses everything the bot has learned about you. 3. Rethink group chats. This turned out to be the real cost. Every message in a group chat wakes every bot in it, even the ones with nothing to say. Most of my usage now comes from conversations, not automation. Here's where we are. I'm moving shared project context out of group chats and into notes the bots read only when they need them. One lead bot per project. Fewer wake-ups. It's helping. But I shouldn't have to reverse-engineer the billing to use the product the way it's designed. Let me be clear. I'm not a freeloader. I don't expect free AI, and I'm happy to pay for real value. Grok Bot delivers real value. What I can't do is commit a business to a platform when I can't predict what it will cost from one week to the next. That uncertainty is the problem. The Grok Bot team has built something remarkable. I don't want to find an alternative, but I may have to. It all depends on whether SpaceXAI fixes this.

The AI impact won't be felt immediately through layoffs (existing jobs are sticky), but through a collapse in hiring (jobs that don't yet exist have no stickiness).
The problem isn’t that AI is intelligent. It isn’t. The problem is that too many adults (but not all) are at once mechanistic, imitative, unimaginative, stupid, formulaic, influenceable, & gullible, arrogant beyond their skill set, & too expensive to maintain.

Pro tip for writers . . .
went to visit a friend who’s a ceramicist and works in a studio with no phone signal in a tiny yorkshire village. he doesn’t listen to podcasts or music, only occasionally uses the radio, and when I asked him what he thinks about all day he just said “well, pots mostly”

There's a lot to be said about this video. Im glad that Pete is wrestling with faith. I'm glad he has elsewhere challenged the easy dismissal of Christianity. (Like his joke about it takes belief to say that we came from nothing and return to nothing. ) It's very odd to decide for Jesus what the most important thing is, when he said it himself. Further, the point of the prodigal son is not to remember the father and stay in the pigsty; it's that the son returns and his father forgave more than he could imagine. The prodigal son is the final of three parables told regarding what is lost and what is recovered. Told across society: a man, a woman, a child. All meant to be an invitation not to settle (two told from the perspective of the seeker and one told from the perspective of the lost) We can't forget who is telling the story and the other things Jesus said about himself: John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. or Mark 10:43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Average IQ in each state.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
These figures are not from IQ tests. No U.S. state has administered a standardized IQ test to a representative population sample; the numbers are estimates derived from school achievement data (NAEP) converted to an IQ-like scale, and this methodology is contested. riotiq.com/articles/avera… acisiq.com/average-iq-by-…

It's wild to think that the PCA is larger than the Episcopal church
Average Sunday attendance is The Episcopal Church is about 407,000 compared to ACNA’s 98,000. That’s 4.1 times as many people (315% more). ACNA’s ASA is just 24% of TEC’s, C4SO’s 3.1%, and the entire REC’s 1.6%.

this is great.
IEA’s 2014 outlook had solar at about 1,000 TWh in 2035. Actual 2025 generation is already around 2,800 TWh.
