Editing an 8K photo with AI used to mean shrinking it first.
Downscale it, edit it, live with the lost detail.
Or crop the area, edit the crop, stitch it back, then fight the seam and the color shift.

How it works:
→ You draw a window around what you want changed (up to 2K)
→ It edits inside that window at the original pixels
→ It stitches the window back into the full image
Everything outside the window stays untouched, at the original resolution. Ideogram says there's no seam and no color mismatch.
It works on images of 8K, 16K, or larger. In their demo, a fireplace is edited inside a 9,984 × 6,656 photo.
The examples they show are the small revisions clients actually ask for:
• Real estate: white door → sage green
• Interiors: brass pendants → matte black
• Ecommerce: sneaker heel panel → burnt orange suede
• Fashion: camel overcoat → forest green
• Aerial panoramas work too
None of it is flashy. It's useful.

The hard part of AI image editing was never the edit.
It was resolution.
Most workflows made you downscale large images or stitch edited crops back in, and pay for it in detail, seams, or color shifts.
Ideogram's Precise Edit goes after that directly: a window of up to 2K edited at original pixels inside images of 8K, 16K, or larger. The rest of the image stays as it was.
Less exciting than "generate anything." More useful for paid work.
