Annapurna Yojana: A Journey of Hope, Dignity & Transformation 🌾🙏 Within a week of assuming office, the BJP Government of West Bengal, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari, fulfilled a promise that touched the aspirations of countless households across the state with the launch of the Annapurna Yojana. What began five months ago as a humble pledge of support has today blossomed into a powerful movement of hope, dignity and empowerment. On 4 October 2026, women across West Bengal gathered at Seva Setu camps to express their gratitude and shower their blessings on the BJP Government for implementing the Annapurna Yojana. From bustling towns to the remotest villages, our mothers, daughters and sisters have embraced this initiative with immense affection, unwavering trust and heartfelt gratitude. Today, more than 1.6 crore women stand empowered through this initiative. Women whose verification is presently underway will soon join this growing fraternity of beneficiaries, while fresh registrations will open shortly. Women can also choose between Widow Pension and Annapurna Yojana, placing the power of choice in their own hands. This endeavour draws strength from the larger vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, where women are the most powerful architects and fearless front-runners of the nation’s progress. West Bengal stands shoulder to shoulder with the Government of India in this transformative journey. That is why this year’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which began on 17 September, the birth anniversary of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, carrying the message of service, compassion and inclusive development, also coincided with the first Annapurna Diwas—ensuring that the first Seva reaches the women of West Bengal. When the women of West Bengal are empowered, the entire state rises with them. When a woman stands on her own feet, a family finds strength. When she dares to dream, a generation discovers possibility. Annapurna Yojana will ensure that the Annapurnas of West Bengal walk forward with dignity, rise with confidence and shape a future worthy of their dreams. 🇮🇳 #AnnapurnaYojana #AnnapurnaDiwas #SevaSankalpAbhiyan #WomenEmpowerment #WestBengal #ViksitBharat2047 #Seva #NariShakti

Supreme Court directs ECI to decide the party symbol dispute between the two factions of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) within four months. The direction came while hearing a plea filed by former West Bengal Chief Minister and AITC leader Mamata Banerjee challenging the ECI’s order freezing the party’s symbol for the upcoming by-elections. The Commission had frozen the symbol as an interim measure pending its final decision on the dispute.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on PM Modi and India’s foreign policy are petty and condemnable. As Leader of Opposition, such indecent conduct is deeply disappointing. His comments insult not just the Prime Minister, but the international prestige of India

A major fire broke out after a naphtha pipeline at Haldia Petrochemicals reportedly ruptured early Tuesday morning, leaving around 35 people injured, five of them critically. The incident occurred around 4:30 am. Authorities suspect lightning may have triggered the pipeline leak, leading to the blaze. The injured were rushed to Haldia Sub-Divisional Hospital, while the critically injured have been shifted to Tamluk Hospital. An investigation is underway.

Indian Railways, what is the point of having a TDR mechanism if genuine claims are rejected without proper consideration? My train, 04210 BSB Summer Special (PNR: 2458166211), from Delhi to Varanasi was already running more than 2 hours late at the time of departure. Given the uncertainty and disruption caused by the delay, I chose not to travel and filed a TDR. To my surprise, the claim was rejected. What makes this even more concerning is that a person known to me who decided to continue the journey is still onboard and suffering the consequences of the delay. The train is now running around 6 hours late, and passengers have reported being stranded at Jalalganj station for over an hour with no clear information. Does the time and inconvenience faced by budget travellers not matter? If passengers are expected to bear the burden of severe delays, missed commitments, and hours of uncertainty, why are legitimate TDR claims being denied? Indian Railways must explain why passengers are being penalized for operational failures that are entirely beyond their control. Accountability cannot be one-sided. Would kindly request concerned officials to take action atleast to refund the cost if there is soo much delay and respect time of the passengers @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia @narendramodi @IRCTCofficial @RailwayNorthern @RailwaySeva #IndianRailways #TDR #TrainDelay #PassengerRights #RailwayRefund

#Breaking: Govt restricts access to the Telegram platform in India till 22 June 2026, covering the day of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination and its immediate aftermath. It also directed the platform to disable, in India, the message-editing feature in respect of messages already posted, for a defined period ending 30 June 2026. NTA says these steps have been taken in response to the organised use of the platform by cheating rackets to defraud candidates appearing for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled on 21 June 2026 #Neet

Political Analysis: Potential Outcomes and Strategic Flaws in Bengal's Elections I’m sharing my perspective on the complex political landscape of West Bengal just before the election results. Honestly, it’s quite uncertain right now. While my overall sense is that the TMC will win and stay in power, I do predict that the BJP will see significant gains. The Leadership Vacuum One of the biggest mistakes I believe the BJP has made is failing to declare a Chief Ministerial face. In a state like Bengal, having a clear leader is essential. I feel that if they had just backed someone like Suvendu, the energy among the party workers would have been on an entirely different level. Right now, the workers don't even know whose name they are fighting for. The Sympathy Strategy I’ve also noticed the BJP trying to capitalize on sympathy, like pitching Abhaya’s mother as a candidate. To be blunt, I don't think it's right. It feels like she’s being played by the party without having any real idea of the politics happening around her. Lessons from the Ground From my time covering Sandeshkhali at ground zero, I saw how Mamta Banerjee handled things. Even with all the tension in Basirhat, she simply replaced Nusrat Jahan with another Muslim leader, and the TMC won that seat. Meanwhile, the BJP’s candidate a victim herself ended up losing. Ultimately, if the TMC can win even when issues like Sandeshkhali are at their peak, it makes me very skeptical about the BJP's current strategy of using the R.G. Kar incident or Abhaya's mother to sway the vote. It’s a messy, unpredictable race, and there’s no telling for sure how it will end.
