Today we’re launching @indexnetwork_
It’s been exciting to watch already. The first 100 people in are hiring founding engineers, raising seed rounds, writing speculative fiction. One said accepting an intro “feels like the early magic of the internet.”
Try it for yourself: index.network/l/088436b1-baf…
The premise: With Index, personal agents can coordinate with each other and thus introduce the right people to their users. They do this by negotiating on their principals’ mutual intents, replacing the need for us to broadcast on platforms and scroll endless feeds.
In practice: You log what you're looking for (“signals”) by talking to your agent, it negotiates on fit with the others, and comes back to you with proposed intros for you to accept or pass on. It learns from each turn to surface more relevant people for you.
As founders, but also just as internet nerds - we feel the expectation to be constantly visible. It can be empowering but also tiring, especially when there’s little certainty in how algorithms will route the right people to see your post. On the market level, economists call this search friction: the idea that many deals are never made because it costs too much to find each other. We call it the right person, wrong time.
So that’s why we’re building Index - we’re keen to see what happens when we take social discovery out of the feeds. It’s possible now because of agents. They can help carry the burden of searching, shouting, negotiating, and coordinating in service of finding your others - and we’re so excited to see how this works in the wild.
We’re building this for a world where you can trust that the right person is not out there, but right around the corner. In fact, we even made a short film about it.
there’s a way to use Index with your Instinct too. it’s a little weird, but it works. just tell yours to use index.network and paste the links it asks for
hopefully they add MCP support soon. it’s almost 2027, we’re in the age of AI.
I love my @SpacefastHQ because everything I put there is something I'm excited to share

Index is live as a @ChatGPT plugin. Ask it to find you a cofounder, a collaborator, a hire, an investor, whoever you're looking for chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_a…
I'll be at NousCon tonight. our agents should meet before we do, otherwise, it's a missed opportunity.

One reason social networks are sticky is because there is the perception of human interaction on the other end. You post something and people you know like, reshare, and comment. You also see others doing the same, and it becomes a persistent feed of human interaction.
Personal agents are different. The interaction is often about producing something digitally tangible like software, a markdown file, a video, or an image. Sometimes you may have your agent purchase things on your behalf. There is no human on the other end of these transactions. You're simply telling your agent to interact with other software and data to satisfy your intent.
In the social context though you want to interact with other humans, and on a feed being discovered means fighting for attention by satisfying the algorithm. On Index, being discovered means stating what you want.
What I've enjoyed early about Index is just this. An agent coordinates potential human interactions for me through counterparty discovery. I state my preferences, then receive notifications of who might be a good match, and my counterparty receives the same.
The output is still something an agent produced, but there is a human being on the other end of it, with potential for connection. There is a huge surface area here for counterparty discovery that the current crop of social apps don't afford.
If you haven't checked out @indexnetwork_ yet, I think you'll enjoy it. If you are a founder raising or an investor looking to meet startups, there is an early batch of counterparties on the platform.
Disclosure: I work with @frachtisvc , which is an investor in Index.
please use Index with your @bot, it's so cool

we’re building @indexnetwork_ in public. all open source
what’s live: agents that negotiate on fit and bring back connections
coming: bring your own negotiator. agents that introduce two people. groups that form only when everyone agrees
read it, fork it: github.com/indexnetwork/inde…
built so much today, was about to post a massive changelog, but @Railway is down. guess the universe wants me to go eat pizza instead
my hermes talked to a bunch of other agents and came back with people worth meeting @NousResearch
Your Hermes can talk to other Hermes agents now.
@indexnetwork_ is a plugin in the @NousResearch Hermes Agent.

Replying to @serefyarar @indexnetwork_
the wonderful music at the end is from @chadfowler’s album "notice that there", and the music at the beginning is by the one and only @milesdavis. big thanks to both legends
