Lots of thoughts tonight… 🏀 Very sloppy play. 16 turnovers and an offense that was disjointed from the tip 🏀 Del Jones is not the answer. He’s still pointless in two games 🏀 Trey Parker plays great defense, but at what point is the offense bad enough to cut his minutes? 🏀 Shocked at the rotation tonight. No Payday Moore, and only two minutes for Petrovic 🏀 We need to learn how to bust through a zone, and fast. Our schedule isn’t getting any easier and the blueprint to beat us is out there A win is a win, but the Pirates have a lot to work on heading into a Monday night’s showdown against Charlotte at the Palestra. Hazard Zet Forward!

Anddddd exhale. 😅 Lots to unpack tonight as the Pirates escape 67-60. 🏴‍☠️ Player of the Game voting and full analysis coming soon.

Pirate Planks to defeat the LIU Sharks: 🏴‍☠️ Control the tempo. This LIU team plays much faster than St. Peter’s and will try to push the pace. Our guards tended to make mistakes in the first game with quick passes, so keeping the game at a slower pace will be crucial. 🏴‍☠️ Intensity from the tip. We excelled in the "hustle" category against St. Peter's, diving for loose balls and pressing for a majority of the game. It will be important to play with intensity right from the start to get the rowdy Walsh crowd involved. 🏴‍☠️ Attack the paint. LIU held FAU to just 1/10 from 3 in their first game, so this will be a good game to feed Terry Copeland and attack inside. His energy is infectious and I'm excited to see how he reacts to the Walsh crowd. Let's make the Sharks #WalkthePlank! I’m thrilled to share my Pirate Planks with @seton_fb this season! Seton Hall defeats St. Peter’s 66-42 for their first win of the year! 🏴‍☠️ Anderson, Copeland, and Fisher had great games to start the season. Full analysis and player of the game voting coming soon!

Wasn’t sure if Rutt’s Hut would stay open for Seton Hall games…this is a pleasant surprise!

We’re only a few hours away from tipoff! Last year’s “3 keys” are now “Pirate Planks”. New name, same idea…3 quick-hitting items the team needs to accomplish to make our opponent "walk the plank" when the clock hits 0. Here are the planks we'll need to lay down to beat St. Peter's: 🏴‍☠️ St. Peter's always matches our intensity and will fight for every ball. They play great defense - since resuming the series under Coach Holloway, we have never scored more than 80 points. The Pirates can't start sluggish - this game could easily be a rock fight decided by hustle stats. 🏴‍☠️ Elijah Perkins is an elite defender for the Peacocks - this game will be an opportunity for our stable of guards to prove themselves. I expect Perkins to defend Simeon Wilcher when he's on the floor, or whoever can get out to a hot start shooting. 🏴‍☠️ Will the real starting point guard please stand up? Del Jones and Milhailo Petrovic split minutes in our exhibition against Monmouth, but neither proved much (3 TOs each, Jones went 1-5 from the field). Roddie Anderson was trusted with the ball late in the game and delivered. One of these guys will need to step up tonight. Excited for the season to get underway tonight.
